The reaction (or lack of) to this incident sums up all that is wrong in football and why I stopped watching it about 15 years ago.

He should be banned by his club for at least the rest of the season, vilified by Liverpool fans, and investigated for assault, at the bare minimum. Instead he'll get maybe a telling off/one match ban and will be welcomed with open arms at his next game... until he changes clubs of course.
