Default Does football need better regulation and man up?

A sporting thread but a general response is needed not a blinkered sport bias. I am a fan of most sport purely for the spectacle, fun, gamesmanship and competitiveness. Some sport is dire to watch but it's got an audience out there somewhere.

But lately footbal seems to be in a complete state of chaos, denial and unsportsmanlike behaviour. They are suggesting that foreign players take cultural lessons, what about the UK born players?

Why does the referee not have the respect afford to referee's in other sports like rugby or cricket umpires. Now someone will say that the stakes are so high, short career's and the money so big they are under massive pressure and passion runs high. But as a reply I'd say UTTER BOLLOCKS! NBA,NFL, F1 and Ice Hockey wages far outstrip the Premier league or any other footbal league in the world.

Why do I hear commentators saying "he was looking for the foul and got it"? There are better dramatics than the Royal Shakespear Company at some matches. FFS man up you over paid *****!

Why do the fans thinks it a good idea to throw coins or abuse at players? Why do fans need segregating? I have taken my grandson to football, cricket and rugby but the intimidating atmosphere at footbal was not comfortable and he did not like it, rugby was a completely different experience as was cricket, we even sat next to fans of opposing team on every occassion and it was great.

Does the FA need a massive reality check and man up to the chaos that's going on?

You may say it's a minority of fans or players but why don't the majority make it difficult for the minority?

I go to watch rugby league, and have sat with the opposition on occasion. Never seen any trouble.

After matches, it's not unusual to sit in a pub with the opposition fans debating the game over a pint......

At superleague grand final, there are fans from every team sat in the stands at old Trafford, in their club colours, could you imagine that in football?

I've seen league players carry on in a match with broken noses, concussion, broken fingers, jaws etc. and still call the ref "sir" even when they know he's made a mistake.... And I've never seen a league player fake injury to get an opposing player sent off.

I have seen a player get a crack of someone on his own team for arguing with the ref!

My son is a united fan, and I take him occasionally. It cost me £90 for tickets...........

Not sure who it was recently but a Rugby League player ruptured a ******** at about 18 mins, played the rest of the 80 mins and then went to hospital. It was so bad they had to remove it .

It was read. It's about sport, therefore goes in the sport related section where persons who wish to discuss sport will respond.

But it was aimed at the "wider audience" for the effect on society.

But hey, another nail in the Scoobynet coffin.

Pelting things at players should not happen, and these people should be caught and banned from matches for life.

There is an underlying hatred amongst some fans - why this is I don't really know.
I think(would like to think) this number is the minority though.
For example, being a Man Utd fan, I attended a game where I was with some Man City Fans before and after the game.
We had banter, but no malice was involved.
I know several Liverpool fans, we get on well (They are from Liverpool, not local to me)
However, I know that there are many Liverpool & City fans that would hate me(Even though they don't know me), purely because I'm a United fan.

The wider audience being one who doesn't wish to see threads about Sport related subjects? Forums have subject areas for that very reason. I'm not sure what input you think you'll gain from an audience who don't have an interest in football?

Actually there's at least one member of your wider audience who claims not to like football yet posts on football related threads at every opportunity.

Bit of a narrow point of view for a moderator

Money has ruined football, players are so desperate to win some times they'll try cheat to win.

Football has it's genuinely and brave players, how many people would stick their head in the way to stop a goal risking getting a size 9 in the face? It also has the fannies who fall over every 5 mins trying to cheat!

Recent injury to a player who was studded (you can't say that doesn't look sore!)

Haha aye! I'd like to kick so many of them in the face, seen too many players dive and cheat and my team get beat/punished by it! Also seen some players do it for us too which isn't good!
