Cool

Er, I watching it now, it's still on, though he is likely to lose

Serving to stay in the match at 2-5 down in the third

Good, a less worthy winner I couldn't imagine if Murray had of won.
Just because he's a Brit doesn't automatically win him my support.

Ah, now you're going to have all the hairy kneed northerners lobbing clootie dumplings at you

As someone said on Radio 1 this morning (Chappers?) "When he wins he's British, when he loses he's Scottish" It would of been nice for someone from the UK to have won.

Please note the use of "UK" as an attempt to stay neutral on the whole, haggis muncher/grockle issue.

Funny that, because whenever us Scots aren't behind an English sportsman competing for Britain you all go nuts and accuse us of all sorts. Case and point being the countless World Cup threads bemoaning the fact that the Scots weren't supporting England (not that England were representing Britain anyway!) Interesting to see how you all react when the shoe is on the other foot.

What is it with all these people getting upset about spoilers in SN? Do you go nowhere else in your lives? The result will be everywhere on any internet news site, on the news on TV, people will mention it in passing, please be realistic!

Is it like that episode of the Likely Lads where they creep around all day trying to avoid hearing the result of a football match!

Geezer

P.S. on the tennis, Federer was in a different class, Murray never had a chance. I would go so far as to say that Murray denied us the chance of a decent final, as only Nadal could have made it interesting, though I think Federer still would have won.

I wanted him to lose, whatever he is. He publicly stated that he would support another team against England. Fine, that's up to him, but in his position he should have set an example. Hell, even the Scottish First Minister said he would support England, but privately I bet he doesnt!

I hope he never wins a major, but plays in loads of finals

FFS IT WAS A JOKE!!!!

Did you hear the interview? Henman and the reporter were taking the **** out him big time about Scotland not being at the world cup and how his summer was going to be boring. He responded by saying he'd enjoy his summer by supporting whoever England were playing. Good comeback I thought.

It was banter, nothing more.

I supported him even though I did not like the remark he passed about England and the World Cup. I put it down to a bit of immaturity on his side at the time. If it was all a joke as in the above post then no need to get wound up about it anyway.

I thought he played an outstanding match against Nadal and never gave up. He won on his ability for certain.

Federer was in the right mood to win and he played as well as he ever has I reckon. He well deserved the victory and he was congratulated for his ability by Murray afterwards in a very fair manner.

Murray played his heart out, once again he never gave up and you can't ask more than that. He played very well but Federer was his match. He will get better in time and is a worthy representative of GB.

I watched him from the quarters onwards and whatever the opinion of him as a person/personality he is a fine tennis player and will win a Grand Slam at some point in his career, he's streets ahead of Henman, thoroughly enjoyed watching him this past week.

You're all missing the point, the kids will be down the park practising like crazy, others will be taking up the sport because of his sucess, hopefully one of them will come through and be English, that should appease a few of you

Federer was back to his very best yesterday, take nothing away from his 13th slam.

People talk about Federer being back to his best and to a degree he had dipped from his own very high level but when you consider he and Nedal played the greatest game of Tennis ever at Wimbledon only losing by a very narrow margin when Nadal was at his very peak it's a bit tough on the bloke to almost start saying he's on the decline.

federer was too strong, although murray never really showed the form he was playing against nadal with.
give murray a few more years, and a few more semi and final appearances, i reckon he can win a grand slam

was it still a joke when he was photographed in an equador shirt at a later date saying the same thing?

I think his pr man has since spun the 'joke' therom but that wasn't the case at the time.

It probably was a immature comment and he may have since changed his mind, however I have not of him. Hope he never wins a thing.

He wouldn't be a Scot if he didn't want England to lose. All my Scots mates are straight on it when we *** up. I'd expect nothing less.

Who gives a toss what you think his PR man has spun?

Tim Henman was talking about it this morning, he was there remember, and he said:

IT WAS A JOKE.

Do you believe everything you read in the papers?

Was tim henman there every time murray went on about hating england and how he hoped they got knocked out of the world cup???

No of course he wasnt you fool, my point that was obviously a little over your head was when he said it with henman it may well have been a joke, the issue i have with the ugly little dour runt was his continuous comments about england and how he wanted them to lose.

He is entitled to his opinion but from that day I hoped he never won a thing.

I didn't need to read it in the papers as I saw it with my eyes at the time
