Arrow your saddest moment in football

Southgate penalty miss hurt, but nothing hurt more than seeing WBA promoted on the last day instead of Wolves back in 2002

Scun thorpe United losing to Blackpool on penalties, first ever time at Wembley, play-offs 1992.

Took us three hours to get home, and NOT ONE word was spoken all the way

So many bad moments, you get used to it following Oldham.

I was split between being happy and mad back in 1992/1993 IIRC when we beat Villa to stay in the Premiership but at the same time beating Villa meant Man United won the premiership.

The worse moment for any Oldham fan though has to be 1994 FA cup Semi Final at Wembley. Sparky putting that impossible equaliser in the back of the net 3 minutes into injury time, if that goal didnt happen SAF would have been sacked, Oldham probably would have made Europe and we would never have sunken as low as we did in the leagues...

Were on our way back for revenge though

Wembley 1977, Man Utd were 1-0 on Liverpool who were going for part II of the Treble, Jimmy Case equalised with a corker, i blubbed my eyes out like it was the end of a 10 year olds life, thankfully Jiommy Greenhof popped up to score the winner, we were such massive underdogs that day, I'll never forget it along with the other 99,999 people at Wembley!!

Also shed a tear the day Bestie died.

*** Edited to say ***

Heysel
Hillsborough
Bradford

Having seen all of these tragedies unfold live on TV were horrific shocking moments as a football supporter, very very sad days.

I was behind that goal in the Olympic Gallery as Hughes stretched out a leg from Mclairs ball into the box, and as i sit here and write this there is a 1 of only 1000 produced print of Pascal Farrell's painting entitled "the goal that inspired the double" hanging on the wall above my head

It was mental celebrating that goal, I thought we were going to fall out of the Gallery, didn't even hear the final whistle go as we were still jumping up and down.
Total bollocks Dave, they wouldn't have sacked Fergie, had we lost that game, we nearly won the domestic treble that year, losing to Villa in the league cup, you're confusing that with the game against Forrest where Robins bagged the winner in 1991 and as they say the rest is history...

For me, it has to me May 1999, when Jimmy Glass popped up in the dying seconds for Carlisle to grab the winner against Plymouth to send my beloved Scarborough crashing out of the Football League.
If only Darren Roberts would have sunk that sitter

I recently saw the Bradford stadium disaster again, as part of my BS fire training, shocking and too sad

On a less serious note, my saddest football moments have been watching Brentford lose at Wembley in the Leyland Daf final 1985, the play-off to Crewe, the LDV vans final in 2001, and the play-off final to Stoke, 2002(?!) Both the last two were at the millenium stadium.

Basically, 4 finals, no wins!!

I remember it well. In injury time, wasn't it?

If anyone had written that story for a boy's magazine, it would have been chucked out as too far-fetched. Yet it actually happened.....

And I blubbed my eyes out at the end of the match, as a 12 year old Liverpool fan! Still remember it to this day. Got my ticket stub somewhere.
You forget to say that Greenhof's shot went in off Lou Macari's chest!

Still we won the European cup 4 days later.

Thats 5 for each of those we've won.

Doh! You shouldn't have said that Now he'll start with all that 'ManUre were the first English club to win it' bollox

1. It couldn't have been that hard back then, even Celtic's name was on it by that point

2. Point 1 aside, It was obviously a fluke, because it took them 30 years to win another one

I actually agree with that point, but rules is rules, and besides if that was still the case, you'd still only have the one

Semi-officially the lowest point in the club's history. 1986 ,we were in the lower half of the old 4th div and went out to non-league Chorley in the FA Cup. Home gates were around 2500 at that time. The amount of people who alledge they were there that night would have filled the ground many times.

Steve Bull made his debut a couple of days later.
