well at the end of the season big al is hanging up his boots now when newcastle signed him he was one of the best players in the world if not THE best. with the current situation at newcastle he is the last player we need retiring. now when newcastle signed him it was a world record(£15million) can you see the newcastle board getting any where new a world record signing? no me neither . now i'm neet keen on all the speculation with yakubu being his replacment, good player yes, world class NO, newcastle should be setting there sites a little higer, and signing another WORLD class player

Who wants to come to the Toon when you've got a negative manager with useless tactics

Its frustrating being a toon fan
Shearer is god - I love to remind people who said he was past it 2 years ago, that he's still doing the business game after game...
Some of the recent aquisitions are playing well IMHO, and bodes well for the future. Im quite interested to see who Souness buys, as he's obviously keen to make changes.
Agree we need a BIG name up front.

Mackem reject
You can keep him.
Shearer is going to be impossible to replace but you could argue the toss that Shola/Kuilvert could fill that roll(if they get their act together) and we really need a faster partner to feed and play off them.
Just like Bellamy
The midfield are going to have to learn to start scoring again, this season alone Bowyer could have been in double figures if his shots have not been woeful at times.
Same with Dyer and Robert.
But I suppose that the confidence has been sucked out of these players that used to score for fun over the years and negative football is truely upon us
He doesn't play with wingers, the main supply line of Big Al

Newcastle is no longer a team. You have a bunch of over paid individuals all running around playing only for themsleves. Shearer came to Newcastle when you where a team and showed some ambition. Those days have gone for you and as such you will have to look to buying a young tallent that may one day turn into a top player. ie Defoe

He is the perfect example of a player who made himself bigger than the club
What did he win you?
Should have spent 15 million on some better defenders IMHO
No doubt hes the premier leagues best ever
Personally I thought Asprilla was one of the best strikers the toon ever had.
Andy Cole won a champions league medal (how ironic is that)

He should of joined Man Utd and filled his house with medals!
I wonder if he regrets it, I suspect he will slightly but he's a newcastle fan so perhaps not too much.
Top player though, he should play another season with his form as it is. Sven should have begged him to come back for euro 2004.
