Kelly Holmes named Sports Personality of the Year
Well deserved too. 
I thought Amir Khan would have taken young Personality of the Year, though.

kelly holmes deserved it mate, she done very well so did mathew pinsent and 3rd flintoff
amir khan maybe in a few yrs, he is new mate and young and first time in the olympics, kelly, pinsent and flintoff have being doing it for yrs bud they def deserved it, and will keep amir khans feet on the ground this way

Well deserved for Kelly - did something that no British woman has done before, Pinsent is amazing achievement, if a little overshadowed by Redgrave.
Personally, I struggle to see how Amir Khan, is as deserving as the olympic gold medalists, or why he is more deserving than the other silver ones? OK we haven't been doing so well at olympic boxing recently, but IIRC RIchie Woodall got gold several olympics ago, no-one got that excited.

I thought it was going to be George Best ............. he can bash his women about much better than Amir Khan does with his opponents

Well deserved IMO, a true heroine, unlike Paula 'show me the money' Radcliffe. My money was on either her or King Freddie
Matthew Pinsent IMO should not even have been in the running, he seems to benefit from the same media blindspot as Alan Shearer did when he was England captain. He and James Cracknell should not even have been in that boat, the coxless four were kicking *** without them. They were 'eased' into that boat because they were **** as a pair

I think Amir Khan may have been two old to qualify for young sports personality - think they said you had to be under 17 at the start of the year?
Otherwise, he would have been a cert for it!

I thought the Ryder cup team should have won too. Going to america against some of the best players in the world and completely showing them up was a fantastic achievement.
Kelly holmes was well deserved for the individual though
