Rooney!
Thoroughly deserved the substitution... disgraceful display from others in the England team too. Playing totally crap sunday park football - so find the need to use thug tactics. So far, a most abysmal display from England.
Great!!
Great!!

true but it makes entertaining telly. think its one time sven should use all his subs and get the likes of SWP on the pitch bridge's distribution is awful, owens first touch is appauling, Coles temper is going ten to the dozen, Nev and reyes are playing with each other but they are keeping it calm only person who deserves credit so far is becks and robinson, Becks might not be playing well but hes keeping his temper under control and trying to keep his teams temper in tact. right off downstairs for the second half

Yeah, chucking the armband will make him about as popular as a horny dog in a miss lovely legs competition !
Couple that to the fact that he played awful, and he's gonna get a media roasting tomorrow - and rightly so.
The rest of the team too, played without desire or skill.
Oh well.
Matt

Just another pointless friendly....you should all know by now that England rarely do well in these games, FACT!!!
As for Rooney, the one thing he doesn't have is some discipline and can't channel his negative energy into something positive....and is it just me (and flame suit is going on here), or is he at the worst club in the country to overcome this failing....what can he possibly learn from the likes of Van Nistelrooy, Keane and co...??

Do you really think he was thinking, "**** Emelyn" When he threw the armband off? He was pissed with being sent off and just took off the black tape from his arm. Just a bit pissed off as you would be getting subbed 5 mins from halftime (deserved).
To say that he did it to intentionally disrespect Emelyn is stupid in the highest degree, and typical of your average ABU/Inglund fan mentality.
Yes he played bad, yes he needs to calm down a bit, but don't start spouting potentially libellous comments.
Oh...

...Sadly, Rooney produced a terrible reaction to him being taken off, and he was criticised for taking his black armband off. It was not good - not good at all.
Rooney showed distinct signs of petulance as he left the field, as he ripped off his black armband and refused to shake hands with Alan Smith.

I don't understand RedKop - you saying that Rooney specifically wanted to disrespect the memory of Emlyn Hughes?
I think he's a thick GILF loving ugly mutt, and I would believe Lineker in that he's too stupid to know whats going on.

Arrogant?
Your having a laugh!
Hes 18 years old for crying out loud! Hes a kid with great talent who has made his mark on football and is being paid very well for it.
Amazing how easily people shoot the likes of Rooney down in flames and forget the display he gave for England in the Euros! Did it with Beckham during the world cup when he was sent off against the Argies...then when he slammed that last minute free-kick in against the Greeks at Old Trafford he was everybodys hero!
Yes throwing the armband down on the floor was a silly thing to do, never in a million years would he have done it in direspect to Emlyn Hughes. Drinking a beer in the dugout was juvenile and showed how immature he can be but why was Sven letting him do it? Fergie would have taken the bottle off him and probably smashed it over his head.
What amazes me is instead of talking about how racist the Spanish fans were we are slating the player who could do as much if not more for our country in football than any player we have seen before!

LOL this thread is quality... Listen to yourselves.. Have none of you ever snapped in a rage or temper? Done something daft in the heat of the moment and then 10 minutes later regretted it? Punched someone, kicked a hole in a door, had a bout of road rage, thrown something to hand??? Never?? Liars...
Rooney has a bit of a temper issue - big deal - he isnt the brightest (bless him) - so like the petulent anti man u fans you are, you lash out...Sad...
Over the next 14 years this lad will become a world superstar and integral part of your beloved England team...In the next competitive match you'll all be cheering him...Its a bad case of Beckhamitis by Joe Public...
Wayne - I know it was spare of the moment fella - ignore the scousers - your an honorary manc now all is well...
