Australia? Do they know what football is?
England will stand a damn good chance of winning it in 2006 in my opinion
Hopefully we shall see Scotland, Wales and Ireland make it through to the final stages too

Good point there Michelle. Maybe they don't
Reason I am interested is that I wish to carry on my refereeing.
The only real concern I can see is my dislike of heat, I would not be very tolerant of running around in the heat.
Cheers,
Michelle.

Unfortunately they call it soccer. Rugby League is called football there, even though they use their hands to play the game. Soccer should be called football cos feet are used to play the game. True?
It has improved out there and most of the national squad's players play in European comps. Uruguay knocked them out of the world cup qualifiers this year. They won 1-0 at home but lost 3-0 away, which knocked them out.
They have their own domestic premiership, and the big one is called the National soccer league which runs at the same time as the European premierships, even though it is summer there while winter here. Botton two teams get demoted to the state league etc. Quality is nothing like Europe but it's OK.
Cheers,
Wrexy.

**** it, I won't referee their matches if they insist on calling it soccer
I shall just have to come over to the UK to do some guest refereeing
Just because they and the Americans didn't invent football they have to change the name pffffttt
I may look into refereeing over there, but I think the heat may put me off a tad. After all, the footie (soccer ) season is in our Winter which is in Oz summer isn't it.
Do you happen to know of a referee's organisation I can get in touch with?

The National soccer league is played in OZ's summer, however the non professional comps, such as under 12's, 13's, open age, etc, are played in OZs winter.
I don't know of any refs organisations unfortuately. I've been away two years now.

Wrexy.

lol a 4 year old thread well not quite but nearly
Got to go with the safe bet of Brazil. I dont fancy England to win it this time but it'll be the year theyre not hyped up that we'll probably win it. Failing that Germany on their own soil stand a good chance
