Only just seen the post boys....
It's not my fault I am not on the list... someone forgot me.
257bhp and 239lbs at 12 psi....
Got it all sorted now... it was a restrictor causing the problem...
Scott you'll just have to wait until the next one to confirm I'm still quicker than you!!! Even with your bleed valve!

The Dawes isn't a bleed valve, its a Manual Boost Controller and does the same job as an EBC, but for 300 odd quid less.......with not quite so many functions.
For the uninformed theres quite a bit of difference between an MBC and a bleed valve. Although the Dawes can be drilled out to have a bigger bleed in it, this simply makes the boost come in smoother than going from off to on.
The results speak for themselves, it gives a car fitted with it PPP power for 30 quid instead of 1700 and checked out on the dyno and select monitor to prove that its a setup that works and fuels very well.
Besides - Scotts got an excuse anyway - he drives a wagon lol!!!! (no offence meant but they are supposed to have a lower power to weight figure than the saloon)
Still, never mind eh scott? Your car still has more power than a standard Jap Import WRX wagon

Plantie - In answer to your statement, please view the below comment taken from Darren Dawes website:-
Is this a "bleed"?: No. It is a pressure-controlled device, unlike a bleed. One big disadvantage of a bleed is that the boost signal is always acting on the wastegate as the boost builds. This means that the wastegate is allowing exhaust gas to bypass the turbine at the exact time you need it to be spooling up your turbo. The SD Boost Controller holds the signal from the wastegate until it reaches the level that you have set. Because of its rapid actuation, "spiking" (momentarily exceeding the boost limit) is almost completely eliminated. Some electronic controller companies actually try to promote spiking as a positive feature, because their controllers cannot react fast enough to accurately control the problem.
I hope this answers your statement, but all in all, for $35, myself and a fair few other people on this BBS are more than happy with the results that it provides, no matter what you want to call it. Also judging by the interest shown in the group buy, I would say this reflects how good this "mod" is, and how else would you get a 15 bhp increase and 20 lbs/ft of torque so easily?
Also, just picking up on Neil's comments, this is a far more cost effective way to get the same power as a PPP'd car for a fraction of the cost, and without the need for the car to be completely standard before it can all be fitted.
Alex, sorry for straying from the main point of this thread, but I just wanted to highlight the difference between the Dawes MBC and a bleed valve, and also provide a basis for any potential Dawes buyers of the gains that can be made from the device.

Tried to fit my "doors" device this am, couldn't shut the bonnet. My fault for trying to jam 6ft of wood into me engine bay without understanding first....
Suppose it not as bad as the PPP... wots healthcare gotta do with giving me more power anyway..
Roll on the delta 1 ECU.....

The Bleed brothers are getting a bit touchy!!!
Chill out boys.... if you can't afford a PPP then its definatley worth it!
Just don't blow your cars up trying to better each other!
Your too easy to wind up!

lol @ POC and ScoobySnack
Plantie - Like I said above, I'm just trying to prove to any "would be" Dawes buyer that it can give you the same performance increase as the PPP, without the cost and the chance of blowing your engine up.
As for not being able to afford it, you should try saving for a wedding! Some people have alternative goals in life, and one of mine is to get married, and not be in debt for the rest of my life! Therefore, why spend £1700 on something, when you can get similar (if not better) performance for $35.
We all know that you are on a mission to have the "quickest" car (Link, new turbo, etc... ), but why spend thousands of pounds in doing it and then end up with a whacking big loan to pay it all off?! Then once you come to sell the car, you have to spend an additional fortune on getting the car back to normal?

Totally agree Scott... I wouldn't buy a PPP far too much money...
POC... if you ask nicely... I might buy you a new front end.... (on a serious note sorry to hear about the deer... real bummer)
Admirable is the wedding fella.... you've got a lovely Wife to be!!! Fair play.

lol @ G and Dave
I've just found out that I've got one of the "slower" ECU's so I'm extremely happy with my results!
Dave any ideas of when you plan to arrange the next one? I promise I'll turn up on time for this one as well
