Avon & Somerset Police training 2
#1
Had a meeting today with the Inspector of the traffic unit at Almondsbury, Bristol and we have agreed (subject to him getting the o.k from his boss) to the following as a follow on from the 1st training session.
3 advanced Police driving instructors taking groups of 3 people will be be driving along various A and B raods for approx' 30mins with a 10-15 min de-brief of where improvements could be made etc. You will be driving your own car so need to bring driving licence/insurance/MOT etc to prove roadworthyness of the vehicle. This session will start and end at the Police traffic HQ at Almondbury. The idea is that the 2 passengeers will be gaining from just being in the back and learning from the officers observation. The idea is that this isn't an instructed drive, by which I mean observations will be saved until the end unless something obvious occurs.
Session should end with us all meeting back for a final presentation. Timing will be start 9am, finish approx' 1pm.
If this is successful then they will run some more courses to fulfill what we need. I'd like to keep the first course to Impreza drivers.
I will give priority to those the attended the Tileys 1st session. Let me know if your interested so I can gauge numbers.
The dates will be sometime around end March early April.
Cheers
Steve.

Excellent Steve,
I'm interested but wasn't able to make the Tiley's first session.
However, I am not too sure about bringing a decatted Scooby along with slightly above average decibles to the "Lions' Den" so to speak. Maybe I could use my Missus' 1.6 Vectra?
Are the officers familiar with the "road worthiness" of the enthusiast's car?

Yes Paul is definitely interested Steve and I know I was unable to make the first one at Tiley's (due to lack of children sitters), but if there is a space then I would like to as well please.

I'm interested put my name down , it would be best if I drove the pony for this as the clutch on the scoob is a bit unfriendly in traffic also the exhaust is a bit on the loud side

Will be interested.
Will let you know nearer time whether can use my Impreza as planning a possible decat in march/april.
Should be having brakes done mid-feb as busy till then. (Still got to decide which ones).

I would love to go but i couldn't make the first one, even if it's just to meet up with all of you again, hopefully i won't be in Ireland with the |Yvonne, by the way i asked Yvonne to marry me on Dec 1st just thought i'd say cause i'm well chuffed that she excepted, so i may be moving in June ish time, but i may have to see my baby because in Ireland they don't like to insure sports cars to anyone under the age of 30 can anyone help or know anyone that can
Thanks Col

You may or may not see the Pony , why do you want a ride ? It performs alot better around town than the scoob , does twice the mpg , just looks a bag of **** and handles like a bag of **** . Also can be left anywhere just give me the scoob anyday .

If I've got a Scooby by then (as I might have, if I've found a new job to sort that part of my life out), I'll definitely be interested in coming. Can't say for sure that I'll have one, and my current car wouldn't count as performance in any way shape or form...
It's pokey enough for normal day-to-day driving around town but I'd feel distinctly embarassed trying to fit everyone in and then trying to accelerate hard revving the **** off it to get anywhere (a little 1.4i Corsa, with 4 not-particularly small people in it's a different kettle of fish than driving with just me in it)

breezer, I know what you mean , I have just bought myself a nice MY00 scoob and my Corsa 1.6 is up for sale!
Corsa can accelerate fine with just a driver but when you add passengers, the rev limiter is suddenly not high enough!
