I'm from the states. I have been stationed here for 3 years. We are finaly getting settled in, and now finally can look forward to my scoob getting here. Not looking forward to the MOT woes however. It will be nice to actually get some waves (for some reason subarus won't wave at my corsa ).

Question quick question

does anyone know if the little blinkers on the fenders (wings?) are required. I've been looking around base and most of the american cars have different signals stuck about there cars. I guess i need to get the orange reflectors out of the headlights too. Is there a way to integrate the rear fog into the tails on a V8?

Thanks in advance
Steve

The "blinkers" on the wing (if you mean the ones that are reflectors on UK cars) aren't mandatory for the MOT and most Scooby tuners sell something to replace them with

The orange lens is a little more difficault. You need to take the lamp apart to get it out. Not as bad as it sounds. There are loads of threads on here on how to do it

Easiest way to intergrate the rear fog light is to get a UK right hand (I won't say drivers side) cluster from a breakers

Isn't your English good for a foreigner

Welcome

Cool Not as good as I thought.

Funny you should say that. It's a totally different world over here. As far as baking my headlights, I assume this is what you are refering to. I do not feel confidant enough to cook my HID's. My wife would not forgive a mistake with something that expensive. I didn't realize the wings only had reflectors on them. It will be nice if i can get away not having those. So the UK version has a foglight already integrated into the tail? I think every version 7 and 8 I have seen since i've been here has a little light under the rear bumper.

Thanks for the reply,

Steve

Just out of interest.....
....Why are you bringing your US spec car over here?

Wouldn't it have been cheaper and easier to have sold the lefthooker in the US, brought the cash over here and bought a UK car ?

I doubt it, as the Pound is pretty strong at the moment
Then add in the loss made in selling it

Baking it!! Yes that is what I was refering to.
You can take the HID's out and it's just a std lens isn't it?

The 7&8's you've seen must be Jap imports (they don't require a fog light there either).
Why do the UK Gov have to make things difficault

Default Exchange rate

It is definatly cheaper to keep my USDM STI vice buy a UK or JAP spec.

I only paid $30,800 for it "on the road". roughly 16,300 pounds.

It has HID's, DCCD, and of course the 2.5l block. Plus the BBS wheels on the american cars (spec c wheels?) are much nicer than the 2004 or 2005 UK wheels.

On top of all that the US Government paid all costs to get it here.

I honestly think the whole headlight housing may be differant on the HID's. I will have to check.

Regards

steve

ahhh! hello sailor

I take it you are going to register it in the UK?
How do you stand with the SVA check. It's a 2.5 which isn't sold here in the UK
Why not keep in on US plates (no road tax, MOT etc)
Hope you get the car soon.

Iain.

Wink US Plates

I have been told I may only keep the US plates for 30 days, The Mot I have to cover, but the government will pay the first years tax I believe. I do get to drive on a US license and insurance though

It's been 4 months since i've seen it. I really can't wait for it to arrive. Just hope it isn't damaged enroute. I can already imagine what the last 4 months have done to the paint. Already bought my zaino for her arrival.

Called Haxbys today to get a tail light. Got the run around. The Subaru customer service in this country reminds me of Mitsubishi .

Anyone know where I can source one?

Steve
