Rhybeck
You would'nt leave your car in Romford/Collier Row but happy about Basildon???? (I don't like leaving my car ANYWHERE!) The "Other" Subaru guys sometimes frequent the Festival Park - I went there a couple of times, it was ok but quite busy. Brentwood sounds ok - maybe one of the pubs on the Ongar road (Essex RS used to meet at the Black Horse) I'll miss the blat up the A12!
Tony "Langered and 17" That was a bloody long time ago!!

John D,
Far too long ago, but at least I can remember when I was 17!!!!!!!

By the way John, How are you getting on with the Origin? I have just got a Road Angel and it seems pretty good but I could possibly back it if the Origin is better.

Tony

Tony They say as you get older the better your long term memory gets but short term memory gets worse. You remember being 17 but I bet you've forgotten that 20 quid I lent you the other day?
I remember being 17, I drove a Ford Popular 100E 1172cc side valve, 34bhp! Err - bugger -I've forgotten what this thread is all about!
JohnD
PS The Origin is fine but the screen backlighting does'nt seem to work! I havent been anywhere where it's been worth plugging it in lately. I'm off to Yorkshire at half term so I will be using it then that's for sure!

Dear All
Good month just gone by once again! Thanks to those who attended Karting also mid month. Same again? Of course. See thread!
Now, i was thinking of changing pub this month. Any suggestions? I know a few come down from Romford and Thurrock way so lets think of somewhere in Brentwood say. Obviously not the Halfway House
What about that golfing place in Doddinghurst? Ashwells, thats it! How does that sound? Answers please!
Tiny. You can ride with me if you like as car may not be done by then!
Oh, and the date for this will be FRIDAY 18th OCTOBER.
Least we can have a lay in after!
Same again, suggestions!

Ashwells is pretty good as a grab-a-granny (definitley better than some i have been to) but to get in you would have to be there by at least 9pm. I wouldn't really advise this venue as i know of two people who have had cars stolen/broken into there in the last 6 months. Personally I would go but not in my car as i like the 'sauce' too much.

I will have a think about other venues in the area.

Do want this as a normal meet or a drinking session?

No, just a one off. Different views and all that!
OK. Ashwells is not in then, although i used to attend a Alfa meet there and it was fine! How things change.
Anyway, you where right some places are heaving on a friday, so lets find a place that is but with a HUGE car park! Or if that idea does not apeal to some let us know!
Only trying to be helpful to others to save their journey time for once ;(

Dal,

City Limits at Collier Row could be a possibility as the car park is huge and there is bowling, amusements etc.

AND DRINK!

This is the place that we tried to start up a meet some time ago but did not get the response.

Bowling venue sounds good at either Basildon OR Collier row.

Can't see the problem in taking a car too Romford. In the whole time I have owned cars & bikes I have never had one nicked. At times I have been known to leave the Scoob unlocked with the windows open, admittedly on my drive. (once left the bike with keys in overnight, was langered and 17 though).

As for City Limits, I think the car park is on CCTV and there is security wandering about. When we had our meets there before we never had a problem.

Only problem with the Dick Turpin is that our turn out will look pretty poor compared to the RS meets. Could you live with the p*ss take.

Why don't we find somewhere Brentwood way so we can meet in the middle with the chaps form the Chelmsford area.

Black Horse sounds fine! Make a change wont it. Shall we say there then for a change on the same date as usual, 3rd thursday.
You can still have a blat, but down the A127 instead
Tiny is now with a car while his is being fixed, so im sure he will be joining us also!

i take it by your replys that no one of you's heard about the three scoobs that were all car jacked by people breaking in to houses and forsing the owners at knife point to hand over the keys.
as for leaving your car unlocked with keys in the ignition, rather you than me
another point witch scoob is going to get nicked first a standard 4dr uk car new shape or old ---- or a 2dr

As far as cars being stolen I may be in the minority but it is after all a piece of metal that is insured. If someone was willing to use a weapon to get my car then they can gladly have it. Live coward, dead hero springs to mind. Don't get me wrong I do appreciate that some people think more of, and probably take more care of their cars than I possibly do but I try not to get attached to anything that can be replaced so there are no tears if it all goes pear shaped.

Anyway back to the meeting place. I am not that bothered where we go, Black Horse sounds fine but where is it? Agree with Rhybeck, some lanes would be nice. Unfortunatley, being a townie, I do not know the whereabouts of many watering holes in the nether regions of Essex so will have to go on other peoples expertise.
