1.6 Replica
Hi guys, New to the forum & the scooby world (well not quite yet anyway )
Looking at some 1.6 STI replica's , They look pretty mint from the outside with all the upgrades ect, But I'm just looking for advice on what to look for when buying one , Pro's Con's of it being a none turbo , What's most likely to brake first...
Any information would very much appreciated guys.
I live on the Isle of Man & I'd have to make a trip to the mainland to buy one , Just don't want to make it a wasted journey or be wasting my time altogether with it.
^_^
Zak.

Cons = Slow as hell and you will get destroyed by your mates in Saxo VTR's.
Insurance will be thumped by "declared" upgrades.
Buy something simple and standard and cheap - build up your no claims then buy the real thing. An Impreza minus a Turbo really is a **** car

I'm 27 , held my full car licence since 2011 , 3 years no claims , Got 4k to spend, Wanted to keep it cheap but not buy a bag of s*** that's been ragged & likely to brake on me in the first week ^_^ , There's a few older Subaru's for sale on the Island but people ask for stupid money here.

That's my plan 👍foot passenger across then drive the car back. I've just been searching insurance on some 2.0lt and it's only £10 More than id be paying for a 1.6 so may as well go for the 2.0lt.
So many about on eBay though...a lot claiming to have not been ragged...what are the tell-tale signs to look out for with these ?

Have you had some quotes for insurance already? Maybe speak to the Insurance Brokers on here, they generally offer a very good premium. I cant speak for the others, but I would highly recommend Ian Michaels - member Moley on here.

Do you only do a 1000 miles a year, I know the Isle of Man is pretty small but I do more than that just pottering round locally and mines a weekend car.
