My rally car is 330bhp at 4200 and 435ftlbs at 3800, it runs out of puff at 6k though due to the restrictor.
Ive built a 2.6 for my Bug STI, that made 350/400 at 3500 on the running in map (actuator pressure) I'm just wating for the ecu to be sorted and she will be back on the dyno :-)

This is mine from a recent drag event, Classic RB5 running a 2.1 with standard location GT30/76 at 550/520. looks to me to be around 3 seconds 0-60

Sounded like a gentle launch too matto.

Are these right guys?

Newage WRX Manual transmission gear ratios:
1st - 3.454
2nd - 1.947
3rd - 1.366
4th - 0.972
5th - 0.738
reverse - 3.333
final drive ratio - 3.90

Newage STI manual transmission gear ratios:
1st - 3.636
2nd - 2.375
3rd - 1.761
4th - 1.346
5th - 0.971
6th - 0.756
reverse - 3.545
final drive ratio - 3.90

STI even has a shorter reverse lol, looking at the gearing the STI must feel very rapid in 3rd. Somewhere between the extremes (1.560) would be nice :/

My WRX

Tubby's STI

Can't be right? Most people say they get to around 45mph in 2nd in an STI.

1994 WRX Jap gearbox

1st - 3.454
2nd - 2.062
3rd - 1.448
4th - 1.088
5th - 0.825

Save for 5th being a bit short that could be a great box if mine goes caput. Are those ratios specific to the 1994 model or all Classic WRX's?

Owen now offer a stock position GT35 size turbo, which is what Graeme from Whiteline and Fred had on their cars in the sprint series this year. They are producing at least 180BHP more than I have.
with a top mount too

I put in my limiter rpm for the WRX (changing point rather as I think the last mapper has increased it past 7600.) Is 8k the limiter on a Newage STI?

Still seems way too fast. Not I'm hitting 69 in the WRX either. 59 maybe.

changing at 39, 60 and 81 must be a right challenge when you take power 100 bhp over stock levels!!

I do prefer the long ratios of uk 5mt boxes.I had a 98/s-reg turbo 2000 that was the same.it was a very fast car for standard. I remember hitting rev limiter in 1st all the time because i couldn't change gear quick enough lol i did go from driving cavalier gsi to an impreza though! I've also had two wrx/import classics which had shorter gear ratios and no way near as fast as the uk cars I've owned. In fairness to the classic wrx's they were MY95 and subaru had upped the torque dramatically in 3rd gear by about MY97-98 models.

Wouldn't bother with an early TY752 box. They are very weak, I blew a few up. The ratio's aren't very good either, you go through the box quick, but, the speed you're doing isn't very high.

I do like the uk ratios better. They're faster to about 80mph.

My mate Parry from up the road had a 326bhp Cav 4x4 with NOS 400bhp, good power at the time, think he ran 12's. Wish I know exactly '12 what' as he can't remember.

I'll ask him next time I see him. He sold it and got a 2.0 converted Corsa then just seemed to calm own over night and got a Vectra.

Shame because he was pretty serious with his modding.
