Default Had Error Code 53 today

Which could have been any of these:

53 Antenna
53 Anti-Quick Operation Mode
53 Communication Error (Time Over)
53 EGI Control Module EEPROM
53 IMM Circuit Failure (Except Antenna Circuit)
53 IMM Control Module EEPROM
53 Key Communication Failure
53 Reference Code Incompatibility
53 Use of Unregistered Key

For me it was definetly Key Communication failure, so the car wouldn't start. Was in Tesco's petrol station, just filled up, and went to put some air in the tyres. Then it wouldn't start, and the light in the Key, on the dash was on.

The only other time I had this in 5 years of ownership, was when I did a test on a cut key, but with no transponder.

Anyone know what the issue could have been?
It couldn't have been radio lockout, as it was the transponder immobiliser affected, not the sigma alarm, which I also know the PIN for and tried that too.

Anyway, I pushed the car out of the way, about 2 metre's and sat there thinking about what I should do. I locked and unlocked the car a couple of times. Took the key out a couple of times, then waited for the transponder light to go out, and it started again.

I can't see how pushing it would have helped.

Any idea's?

MY00 UK by the way.

Default Immobiliser

Have been having same fault - Code 53 too - OMA not come across it before. Only happening mine when it's cold. 'locks out' for a while until resets and then goes again.usually only few minutes but when very cold there wasn't resetting all day - ended up putting hairdryer in every morning to get it heated up which definately got it going again.had same problem all last winter but only when cold.
Had posted on scoobyireland, here and naisoc but no real ideas.

Hmm. It wasn't that cold when I used it. I'd been driving for about ten minutes. Then got petrol. Then moved from petrol pump to get air.

How many times had it happened to you, you get the flashng light on the key on the dash?
Where you been putting the hairdryer?

It can't be, beacuse the fob was wotking, and I knew the PIN for the Larm, which didn't help. My Issue was related to the transponder key.

Will be radio interference alot of filling stations / supermarkets have mobile phone masts that are not always visible
Transponder are not exempt from interference
