Default Sti type UK Key confusion?

I have purchased my 2002 Sti UK car, but only have one key. I have the alarm pin code and key code number, know I can recode the extra fob to unlock the car and do the alarm. But is there still a manufacturer code chip in the two button keys that is active and I need to get coded? Sorry have searched and know sigma sam is the man toask, but I cannot see anything definitive on whats in the std key with disabled 2 buttons?

Thanks

A

Yes there is still a transponder in the 2 button key for the immboliser.
Apparently the 2 bttons were disabled because of the original functions not meeting Thatcham CAT1 status, hence the reason for the use of the Sigma fob's.

So to get a new key, it will have to be matched to your ECU, the transponder chip that is.

Track down "Sigma Sam"

I think he might use that name on ISDC
On here I think it was OE Alarm something or other.

you can also get a conversion kit to turn the 2 button key in to a single button key and do away with the separate key fob
