Don't bother with spending money on it. RAC are a waste of money IMO. Going to/from garage to get fixed and problems with them losing my records.
The device loses signal in some areas so what the point?
RAC could not organise a pi$$ up in a brewery
My point will be proved when I write a letter to them explaining my change of address. This will be replied by them saying they have no record of me on their system
I will never have it fitted to another car ever again. You might as well set fire to your money.

Re: Rac Trackstar
It may just need powering down and powering back up again, in my experience it could be the GSM and GPS aerial which is built into one unit if you PM me I can tell you where it is and talk you through powering the unit down!!
Hope this helps

i have a tracker fitted by tracker and they say it needs a service every 5 years. What they do for the service is replace the unit.I think it cost me about £110 last year. Then they sent me a letter saying the can supply and fit another one to another vehicle i own for £99.

I think they are great, well worth the money. My car is moved around a few times each year on a trailer. The times I have forgotten to call them they always call me within 5 minutes to say the car is moving and confirming with me that it's being moved lawfully.
They were fine and efficient when I changed the registration, and when I discussed with them what my car was, they changed something on their alert notification, and I now get a call if the car moves more than a few meters without telling them first.

When I got my car, I had exactly the same problem. I paid for the guy to come and fix it. He was here for about 30mins, and he said the problem was.....the SIM card was full. I think of Spam messages.
It's worked fine since, and the service seems ok, as I trailered my car from Austria to Slovakia at xmas time and they phoned me and left a message on my phone saying they were tracking it. Although I haven't heard anything since that answer phone message!
Although, if it has a SIM card, that mean it's being tracked on a phone signal, which isn't too good in my opinion.

Re Tracker audit
Hi Bazza
What they do on a service is change the battery backup and Audit the system to make sure that it will work if the vehicle is stolen and the Police can track it!!
I no longer fit Tracker due to a very good friend of mines escort cosworth was stolen and Tracker couldnt find it even though my friend was woken up with it being started.
Hope this helps

you can ask for a test track, when you drive the car out and they let you know where you are, failing that just get them to fix it i have had rac tracker on my sti since i bought it brand new it was part of the sti type uk package and i would not be without it and thats since 2003.anyone that thinks if someone stole there car that they would not want it back has not had anything stolen from them and are just having a laugh.i would rather have a car back in pieces then to know that a thief got away scott free.my advice get your tracker sorted mate.
