Seen an ad in this week's Autocar for Pentagon Supaglass. It's a micorfilm laminate that is bonded to the side windows of a car, and renders the glass ten times stronger should anyone try to smash the window to gain entry to the car.
I'm aware of the safety issues in case the emergency services need to access the car in the event of an accident. But, my question is, has anybody had ecperience of this company, and does the product actually work?
I don't want to shell out £525 for the four door windows, only to find out that I've wasted my money when some low life tw*t nicks my pride & joy....

I don't think it is as effective with impreza's as there is no rim round the top of the door to jold the glass in. It would slow down a thief as the glass would not just shatter, but it could be pulled out enough to get your arm in and open the door !

Cheers Mate - they seemed adamant that it would hold in place without significant distortion. Just looking for something that would lessen the likelihood of lowlife ignoring Max's new alarm based handiwork and nicking stereo, string-backed gloves etc....
Also, might help protect the paintwork from damage by glass fragments. Seems expensive, though!

I agree , I also beleive that if a scooby window was fitted with the security film , and then broken ,It would not hold up for very long. thats also the problem with bmw coupes and convertibles.
never mind.
why dont someone invent something more usefull against scooby crimes?
Ive got my thinking cap on and im thinking about having a seat belt warning light trigger mechanism from a volvo seat, wired up to a solenoid & bear trap that is also hidden In the bottom of the seat lol
car car prevention that bites back.

HB,
If we accept the limitations of film on the scooby windows, I guess there will still be some benefit like the paint protection as the glass is held together.
With that in mind, my "already got that on mine" colleague's scoob has some very tasty tints on. Subtle rather than "pimpmobile", much cheaper than dedicated "security film" but much cooler too. Done on his drive by cappacino(sp?) tints from their mobile pimp parlour m-class merc for less than half the price of your security film, for four doors and rear window.
Worth a thought ?
Regards

Hi Dox - sounds interesting Mate - I'm assuming that the film that they provide will still offer *some* protection, and will help hold the glass together - to alleviate paint damage.
Cheers, HB.

Absolutely, at least I'm justifying it to my bank balance on the grounds of safety and convenience. The fact that it looks good too is purely a bonus...

Why not just use securefix... They've done a few of the guys cars on scoobynet, and as I understood it used the same stuff as pentagon all for £200-£250 all in.

smoke tint from capachnio was £235 all four doors and rear window.
I was told it makes it harder to smash than without having any. If you think about it as the film is on the inside when the galss is smashed it can't be pushed into the car as it's all stuck on the film. but if you in and want to get out you can push it out from the inside. problem with scoob is as it's not got window frames thief scum can grab the top of the glass and pull it out.
I also fell that tint might make car jackers think twice before ramming my rear as they can't see clealy if car is full of 7ft night club bouncers or IT geek.
