I have an 2002 Impreza 2.0 Sport which has the standard Subaru alarm fitted.

For some reason the alarm goes off when it wants too! I have checked the doors and boot and bonnet and everything is shut. The windows are shut and there does not appear to be any insects etc. in the car setting the ultrasonics off.

When the arm sounds i can't stop it. If i press the button on the fob nothing happens to the alarm but the doors will lock or unlock as normal.

If i try to start the engine it starts fine too! I can even drive the car with the siren sounding!

I now have to disconnect the battery when i get home to not anoy the neighbours.

Anyone have any ideas please?

it probably needs a new siren. Sounds like the battery pack has gone.
