GG,
Smartnav were pretty good when mine died. I used the unit to call them and they sent a guy round within a few days who fixed it within about 20 mins.
Might be worth persisting with them...

Sounds like the antenna is faulty or has fallen down from where it was fitted.

Thanks for the help
Do you know where the aerial would likely to be fitted?
Is there some sort of receiver box in the car?
I am hoping it has just come lose I could do with out paying some one £120 for pushing a lead back on!!!

Mr Car Security expert I have had my smartnat looked at and they have told me that the main control box is faulty and needs replacing at a cost of £300
I have had a look on Ebay and there are new complete sets for around £50.00 is it a case of just swapping the main controller? can I do that?

as long as you fit the sim card from your present box into the new box it should be fine. Worst case scenario is that you need to call smartnav and give them the "URN" number from the new box as well. Although i really doubt that you will need to do that.

I've been through three control boxes now, but all under warranty.
What reason are they giving for yours not being a warranty job?
The touch screen wouldn't turn on when starting off and within a couple of minutes I'd get a phone call asking if I knew that the car was on the move - so at least they are on the ball.
The last repair guy said that any further work would be focused on the Subaru wiring as being suspect.

It was done under warranty, so no call out charge.
The guy removed the instrument binnacle and did something behind there. Quite what was done, I'm not sure, but it took about ten minutes if that.
