Kinda, sort of. let me explain.
You get into your car and close the door, start the engine and then punch in your 4 digit valet code. Now if anyone anytime after you have punched in the code, someone opens a door, drivers, passengers then closed again, the blackjax will see this and after I think it is 30sec, will flash the indicators and rear tail lights and also beep at you, then if you don't punch in the valet code the ignition will be cut and the car will come to a stop and will not be able to be started again, unless the the pin code is entered.
I think is a great big of kit, just make sure you have it turned off when the car goes into a garage for service

my question is for example....i left my house yesterday and after bout 15 miles of driving,it dawned on me to put the damn code in....so i did and continued on driving with no problems

Had blackjax been activated on your 650?
Test, get into your car and shut door. Just turn the key in the ignition to full acc, so the dash lights up like a Christmas tree, punch in the code, then straight away press the lock and unlock on the remote. You should hear a beep to confirm, then when you turn the key back, you should hear a few more beebs to confirm that bjax is activated. Or when you do the same as above, the blue led should flash 5 times saying that bjax is not activated.
If you don't get the beep, then it has not been activated and you will have to go back to the alarm shop to get it sorted. That happened to be.

would there be a time setting for the blackjax to kick in that is adjustable???
surely 15 miles or 10 minutes is too long for the system to activate!!!

right if u get in car turn engine on then off, the blue led should flash 10 times - this indicates that it is off.
how it works is that once u get in the car and start driving u have 30 secs to enter the code, after that the alarm beeps 3 times and the led inside car will flash constantly, if you still havent done this the alarm will go off and start too power down the vehicle until it is stopped after this the doors unlock.
those that have it and dont use it...... why? it is a superb peice of kit

The cars engine won't shut down until the revs are at a safe limit.
Basically (my understanding from my own installed system) is:
Start car, you get 30 seconds to enter code (I think after revs go above 1500)
If you haven't entered code, indicators, brake lights etc start flashing and car starts making loud beeping noise. If after a further 30 seconds you still haven't entered the code (and the revs are at a safe level) the car will shut immobilise.
Again, as SC008Y_MAD has mentioned above, your system must be activated. It is possible to activate and deactivate from your keyfob. You'll need to refer to the manual for the button sequence.
Hope that made a wee bit of sense?
Good luck and I hope it works for you, I love it and it does give you a level of comfort.

Been thinking about fitting blackjax myself really like the sound of the system. My question is why do the insurance companies not like it? surely anything that deters or makes life difficult for the theiving scum has got to be beneficial.

Bugger! I thought the Clifford Concept 650 (with Blakjax) was a Cat 1 Thatcham approved? All the websites selling it are stating that it is and my insurers know that it's on mine....... not good if this is now not true?

should start to shut down within 200 meters max youll know about it
It starts to count down scares the life out of you
then disables the car !
The revs are linked to the door locks and locks you in after rev car first time
hope this helps
I think this alarm is the business

Got this fitted to mine and its fantasic but also a pain in the a**e.
Basically you start the car, punch in the code then drive as normal, if at any point someone opens the doors, boot, or bonnet you then have to re-punch in the code....if you forget to punch the code in after the door has been opened, once the throttle is touched you have 30secs to re-enter the code otherwise the engine cuts, doors lock and the alarm goes off.
Very good if you get hi-jacked, but a pain when you keep forgetting

Please note that the car will not shut down until the revs are below a safe limit. This is stated within the manual. If you think about it it's far too dangerous and the system would never pass safety laws if the car was allowed to speed away at high revs and then just shut down, that's asking for a serious accident with other road users or pedestrians.

in which case installer has not fitted it correctly as the blackjax is sold as part off the alarm and only turn off as an option..and no ins co is going to refuse cover if the blackjax is enabled as it in no way detracts from the other functions of the alarm and imho blackjax is better than the rest of the alarm as if they get the keys the only thing to stop them is bjax

If you are going to enable it, cover yourself by getting it in writing from your insurance company that they are happy for you to have it activated, as it is far safer to cover yourself doing this, than them using it as an excuse to to pay out a claim.

As i said above yes it is a feature of the alarm, however it is not tested as part of the thatcham certification (or at least wasnt when i last checked) and as such the default option for it is disabled.
