1998 scooby key code
hi
i have a 1998 impreza turbo wagon, only got one key with it, the locks have been changed since new, so the original keycode to order new keys is wrong, does anyone know how to get the key code so i can order a new one, then get it coded at the dealers, or am i screwed, they tell me a new lock etc will be over £500 fitted, not paying that.
thanks
jason

Didn't think they could or would cut a key that you haven't bought from them. Different transponder systems. Go around to a few locksmiths. If you can get a key from them, they can code it. Locksmith used the basis of copying the info on your current key, whereas Subaru can probably only code from the key card, and can't read info already on the key.
Let me know how you get on.

thanks for the advice, i went to the local key cutters, and he said yeh they could do the code, but when he checked it is an encrypted key code, so he couldnt, but he said i can get the key and cut it, then take it to sbaru dealer for recoding, so thats wha ti doing, key is £30 cut and coding £15, not to bad
