Angry Cobra 6422 problem!

Hi all, The cobra alarm on my type r has decided to chirp the siren every 5 seconds or so when it's disarmed? It's fine when it's armed and arms and disarms ok just all the time it's disarmed it keeps chirping the bloody siren!! Can start the car ok too? Any help greatly appreciated as it's driving me round the bend!!! Cheers, Neil.

probably a faulty siren.....

TBH the 6422 was a pretty awful system. Your lucky it has lasted this long.

Hi mate, thanks for the reply, Why was it awful? I had the same on my early classic uk and I had no probs with it in the 5 years i owned the car? Do you know if the sirens repairable? thought it might be a problem with the hold off voltage? That's if it works on that principle of course? Cheers, Neil.

they had a lot of problems with transmitters. We used to send them back by the lorry load. Really unreliable...

I doubt if the sirens are repairable, most of them arent.

Ok mate, Thanks for the info, Is the siren part of the system generic in all the 6422s so can it just be replaced on it's own? or is specifc to each control module? Cheers, Neil.

if its second hand its specific to the original unit. if its new then iw will work woth yours if that makes sense

So if i buy the second hand siren i need the controller too? Any ideas where i can get a new siren and cost of it mate?

any cobra dealer should be able to get you one. they usually cost between 30-50
