wrx 2001 key fob stopped working and the AA man didn't override (left door open etc) so the alarms now gone into shutdown!!!!!

the key pad won't take the code but does still have a red light that flickers occasionally.

not sure now how to fix.

Is their a factory code?
remove battery and let it decharge and then retry?

any ideas?

much appreciate no car and no way of tramsporting kids etc
