AS FAR AS IM CONCERENED THERE NOT WORTH THE MONEY(£360+)MOST OF THE TIMES THE THEVES LEAVE THE STOLEN CARS NOT FAR FROM WHERE THEY HAVE BEEN NICKED FROM!IF NOT THERE DESTROYED ONE WAY OF ANOTHER.GET A GOOD ALARM AND ANTI HIJACK SYSTEM,IF THEY CANNOT DRIVE IT ITS NOT GOING TO FAR!

Cool

I have an RAC TrackStar on my 03 WRX SL Wagon. It did save me £300 on an insurance policy with DirectLine (Paid for itself now and saving me money now!!). That was in a low risk area and for a person in there late 30’s.

I agree with the above comment that a good quality alarm or a physical deterrent would be a better bet if you are not looking to improve your insurance costs.

I have a Steering wheel lock as well as a Cat 1 Immobiliser (Standard Fix) and the TrackStar. Motion activated lights of the drive so they lit up like a Xmas tree!!.

This is in the hope that a thief will see this as a lot of grief and move onto an easier target. If sirens are going off and they have to smash the steering wheel lock off they are more likely to get caught so will go elsewhere.

TrackStar will mean you get the Car back and/or hopefully lead the old bill to the thieves. (That how it is supposed to work but I bet it never happens!!!)

I always assume that if it is a professional Thief and they really want your car they are probably going to it. If I can slow them down, giving me enough time to get my baseball bat out and release to dogs on them then all the better…

tracker monitor and horizon are very good. Horizon is the best unit in the UK market as it has both GPS and radio signal so even if someone puts your car in a container or takes it in the bottom of a car park it will still get signal as the radio frequency will kick in. The Monitor will only give you radio frequency tracking only.

Personally iv'e not had any probs with trackstar.
Whenever iv'e rung up to do a test track there spot on. Also when i changed my battery they rang me !

So far so good. But have heard of a lot of probs with them, again ive gone for the steering lock with certificate that you send off to the insurers. That reduced the premium somewhat.

Unfortunately your car is no less likely not to be stolen because it has a tracker fitted. A lot of thieves are wise to trackers and where they are located. You are probably better spending the money on a better immobilser/big dog.
Only time i have had a tracker is when i had my STI and they were standard fitment, i found their customer services a pain in the rear.

I have the MetaSAT tracking device on my 07 STi which is a standard fitment and Thatcham Q.

Not sure how much they are to get fitted but i think it's really good.

Your car texts you if started without the keys. You can also text it back asking of it's whereabouts at any time. You can also immobilise the engine from your phone - clever piece of kit.
