Question COBRA 8185/6/8 alarm

My Cobra alarm is starting to annoy me, as I'm never certain if it's ever locked or not

From the Car being unlocked I press the large Fob button, the indicators flash twice, doors lock, 20sec ish later alarm chirp, 10sec ish later final Chirp.

I have notice a few occassions returning to the Car is still unlocked

I have since always double checked and found on some occasions. When the Car is already unlocked (I have opened a door and been in and out of the Car). I press the Fob to set alarm and lock doors, the indicators only single not double flash and doors don't lock. Seems it thinks it's already locked and is unlocking the doors.

A few Q's advice please

A) me doing something wrong, a wrong setting or Alarm Faulty
B) Can I make it chirp to mimic flash (easy missed in bright daylight) on unlocking/locking(read booklet and little to no help)
C) I'm after additional Anti hijack security anyway so just **** it off and replace it with a Clifford or Sigma.

Tony
