which tracker

If you have to go with one, go with the cheapest.
Both do the same thing.
I have had both, currently on Trackstar because it was standard fitment on the STi.
No idea if one is better than the other though.

Sorry to drag this up but I've been offered a very good deal on RAC Trackstar plus. Insurance don't require a tracker so it would be for piece of mind.
What experiences have people had of this system recently?

I have Trackstar fitted as standard and only use it cos my insurance requires it. I personally think its alod of rubbish.
I've used Navtrak in the past and found them very good. You get a fob and need to disable the tracker before moving the car.
You can test the system whenever. Just do not disarm the tracker and sure enough you'll get a call within 10 mins saying where your car is and if your driving or not.

Tracker no longer fit the Retrieve anymore, only Monitor or Horizon. Just had my Scoob done.
Crims are now nicking motors then then leaving them for a day or two in the street. If plod comes along, it probably has some tracker device fitted. If, not "Parts R Us" so look out.

Yes but don't you want to try and improve the chance of catching the B******s who nick your ca???? surely with Tracker Horizon there must be a chance they can be tracked as soon as they steal it?

Is this a good system if you are hijacked. Surely they will get out run back, get you by the throat and make you start the car again minus blackjack thingy. Pardon my ignorance if its not as simple as that.

As far as I know, RAC Trackstar can actually tell which way and speed the car is moving whereas Tracker reliy on Pig waggon having a detector. This may have changed since my days of having Trcker.

also is the robbing twa* going to know you the caracteristics of a blackjax and is he/she really going to hang around trying to speak to a deaf and dumb person and risk doing a stretch of atleast a week behind bars if caught. mine cost me 170.00

Fantastic bit of kit. We have done loads for members also done some group buys. Its one of the first things we put on our own cars alongside a tracker. We do the blackjax for £150 for members. The Tracker retrieve has been discontinued but trackers do work & we have the certificates to proof how many scoobies have been recovered once stolen with trackers installed by us.

Another alternative to the blackjax system is the new Clifford Callguard. It can be set up so that you can immobilise your vehicle by sending it an SMS from any mobile phone. It can also be used as a GSM pager so that you are notified via text if your car is broken into. It's a very neat piece of kit !
