Ive been to a car security shop and asked for a clifford concept 500 or 600 and was quoted £550 for the concept 500 and £700 for the concept 600. When i asked why it was so expensive they said it was because on the old shape WRX they needed to modify the alarm, so clifford brought out an alarm just modified for a WRX which is why its expensive. is this true? has anyone else got a cliffor on thier new shape WRX, and how much was it???

Concept 500 cost me £500 fitted.

The modified Clifford alarm is AFAIK only needed on imported WRX's and STI's. This is because the imported car uses differnt electrics. A standard Cifford alarm is fine on a uk or euro car.
Had my C500 for a while and absoloutely no problems. Brilliant alram too. its expensive but had loads of toys.

Cheers

Nathan.

BTW Emailed you about those MY01 Morrettes did you get it.

Got my MY01 from Belgium, had the standard C500 alarm fitted and absoloutely no problems. The MY01 availiable in europe is exactly the same car here, except one is left hand drive. This is all due to EEC type approval. Its cheaper for Subaru to only have one spec of car for Europe than two.

Some dealers still don't know that the WRX is now an official car and when they hear WRX they immediately think import.

Nathan.

Edited to add give Max The Clifford Dealer at Maximum Impact - 0113 244 1448 a call he's from Leeds and comes highly reccomended on this board. VSIB registered too.

Just to close this off, there was a problem with the wireless immobiliser when used on WRX/STI of <=MY00.

Clifford fixed this by adding some extra circuitry to overcome the electrical noise. There used to be a small red/orange sticker added to the box to show that the mod had been made - dunno if it's a different order or not. But if your clifford dealer doesn't know, find another one.

There are no issues any more, and none with the MY01+

If you're in Manchester, make the journey across the pennines to Leeds and get something installed by Maximum Impact; they've done loads for the ImportingImprezas list, and are generally superb with the quality of their work. No personal connection, apart from having 5 alarms fitted by them - tel 0113 2441448.

I think

Just to confirm what Chiark has said above, I have the 500 on my 93 wrx and have no problem as the wireless fuel cutoff is only on the concept 600, therefore only the 600 needs a modified unit.
