Default Trackers??

Hi,
Went to see a 53 plate sti with ppp on friday Totally fell in love with it!! Speaking to my insurance company today and they said that they only insure these cars if they have trackers fitted. The place i went to view the car is closed today so i could'nt ask if it had one, i'm thinking probably not though coz the salesman did'nt mention it. Do they come with trackers fitted as standard? If not whats the damage to have one installed?

Cheers for your help.

David.

David, try "A-plan" for your insurance (loads about them on here if you search).

Recently insured my new WRX with them, and no tracker was required, but I`m unsure if it`s the same for the STi.

Worth a try though, as I don`t think Tracker is standard on the STi, as it certainly isn`t on the standard WRX.

I believe they`re about £400 to get one installed, with a yearly "retention" fee of around £110, although you can pay a lot more on installation, thus negating the need for the annual top-up.

Good luck, hope this helps.

STI's come with RAC Trackstar standard fit... I've got one..... if the subscription hasn't been kept up it cost 37.50 for a new SIM card in it and fifty quid to fit it and they come to your house then its a tenner a month subscription and worth every penny.

The other day a Porsche was nicked with keys..... Police were notified with 6 minutes... it was found in 15 minutes...... no damage to it! Just need new locks due to the missing keys. How do I know... I found it!

Or they see someone doing 34 in a 30 limit on the way - then they will have to abort the tracker to pull over the real criminal

had to have one fitted to MY99 for insurance tracker retrieve i think it is. cost 279.99 and 109 pounds a year for subscription. two others were tracker horizon and tracker monitor not sure of prices.....

to be honest if they want the bloody car they'll have it no matter what you do. and i've known it before now if they can't get it they'll torch it.

and as for 15 minutes to catch it well done those handheld cameras you lot use pack away quite quickly then... :0

Cheers guys!! The salesman has just informed me that it does have a rac trackstar fitted. Got a quote through the net with directline and was quoted 1156, which sounds ok to me as i pay nearly that at the moment for a chipped TT 225. The car is listed on their site as WRX STI UK, no mention of the ppp! Is this something i need to let them know?

Thanks for all your help.

David.

Oh yes tell them about the ppp they class it as a mod so insurance will be more, dont tell them and it will be void if you need to claim

Why do Tesco(for instance) insist on Tracker being fitted????

I had my tracker fitted not for insurance reasons but for peace of mind.

I'd have a much higher chance of getting my scoob back if it ever got nicked.

exactly m8, ok it does bring the insurence down a bit but at the end of the day what do you treasure more , saving a few quid on insurence or getting the car that cost you thousands of pounds back in one piece.
