Question Tracker.

Just put down a deposit on a new import scooby, what is the best/value for money tracker?

Seems like either the RAC Trackstar or the Tracker Monitor are the ones to go for.

I had the Tracker monitor fitted to my import. I read on here of problems with the RAC Trackstar not being able to locate some peoples cars which is a bit worrying considering the cost of it, let alone defying the purpose of having a tracker. To be fair to RAC i think they have this sorted now and IIRC it was software issues on earlier revisions of there trackers, so all new install should be fine.

Whatever Tracker you eventually get, it would be worthwhile phoning them periodically (every 3months) to check the system operation and get them to tell you where the car is.

Installations and service charges can vary depending on what your requirements are. If your planning to keep the car for a while (over 3yrs) then go for the lifetime service payment, that plus the installation of a tracker monitor will come to no more £800 all inclusive of VAT.

Might be worth checking with your insurance company first as well mate. I know that some companys require the trackers to be proactive.
Ive always gone with the Trackar Monitor. The only thing with them is that ive found the customer service on the phone is pretty crap. (petty I know)
Its 441 quid installed + about another ton a year subscription. www.tracker.com

Yes speak to insurance comp first. Basic Tracker is not enough usually. I found Privelige Insurance were good price after getting one fitted.

You'll probably need good Cat 1 alarm too as your import won't come with that either.

We @ MotorGuard do the Tracker Monitor for scooby net users for £350 fitted inc Vat (RRP £450). Monitor is the most popular option on Scoobies.
