an age-old topic and I know there is a school of thought that says just let it get nicked, but _if_ you could get something that meant you had a fighting chance of getting evidence to get the bstards locked up, what price would you willing to pay?

There are already plenty of camera/internet/phone widgets etc. out there but watching someone or even having a record is not the issue. The punishment simply isn't enough of a deterrent.

Now _if_ someone came up with a legal method for administering punishment to car thieves: spikes through the seat, CS gas, superloud noise (I think that's already available!) then I be very interested.

Come to think of it how about some sneaky, less obvious punisment? Microwave under the seat - sterilise the *******s!! 850 Watts for 20 seconds, that ought to do it. Might want to put a bit of effort into making it failsafe...
