Regarding the Clifford 500 Alarm install saga.
Thank you Mark from Clifford Alarms (Directed Electronics)
As I have posted many times before regarding the Clifford 500 Alarm install saga.
I bought a brand new Subaru Impresa WRX and had a Clifford Concept 500 alarm fitted at RAM Wakefield.
Three alarm systems later, it has been revealed to me what has caused the problem over the past year.
Mark from Clifford Alarms (Directed Electronics) and Andrew from Interpart Didcot Oxon, stripped out the install from my car.
I won’t reveal in detail, but I noted that the crimping tool used on the connectors originally had only a single crimp and not double with a proper tool, the earth wire had become loose and the wiring was extended with speaker cable and was had to be reconnected to the main wiring loom as it was not wired correctly.
In short the original install was removed and was re-wired properly, It was noted by Mark, the plain view switch was mounted on one of the console switch blanks, these are slightly radiuses and are not completely flat, this was the cause of the switch to fatigue and break down.
The switch was re-sited onto a flat surface with a new G5 plain view switch.
The whole system feels more positive and the code is excepted every time, in short RAM at Wakefield have put me to a lot of unnecessary bother over the last year and I hope that as a authorised Clifford installer they have this pointed out to them by Clifford Alarms (Directed Electronics).
Bottom line, if you want a Clifford Alarm get it fitted by an Authorised Clifford Installer. Interpart at Didcot I can recommend, others I can’t.

ticky: I have always contacted him on this one,
customerservices@clifford-uk.com
The C500 is not the same as the G5, must say I cant be 100% sure it was the G5 or the G4 but only fairly sure. Anyway its not the same as my old C500 one, but it is not radically different.
The big issue is that the switch blanks on the impreza, are not flat and it ***** the switch over a period of time, least it did on my car.
S.B. So I found out to my cost M8
I would also add, it’s not always down to the dealer, it can be a bad fitter that has worked for them and gives them a bad name.

SlowBoy: yeah I am pleased to, its given me hassle all year.
Can’t believe it's the same alarm, so positive, it takes codes first time every time.
The Clifford alarms are really a computer in an alarm box, it only take a bad install to make it look rubbish.
But when it works properly, that’s another story.
I am very pleased with my Clifford Alarm alarm now its fitted properly.
