Aren't immobilisers cat 2? I thought alarms were cat 1.
In answer to part of your question, most insurers require cat 1 security device, but there are some that don't. Look in Insurance for more details on this.

the blackjax is an anti hijack device only. there are no provisions at the moment for thatcham approval of delayed immobilisation devices.
if insurance company are requiring cat1 then you need an approved system.
