Unhappy

OK. Last night my kid sisters car got bust into outside my house. The t@ssers took a crappy old Sony CD player, some pants speakers and wrecked the door. This has made me even more paranoid about my car, especially as I heard absolutely nothing. What I need is a pager on my Sigma alarm so that I wake up if anyone goes near her. This way, I can sneak up behind them with a bat and my large dog. Has anyone got a pager on their car? What systems do you recommend?

Cheers,

Pete

To be honest, you need to remove the CD player rather than get a pager. By the time you're alerted by the pager they've probably ripped the dash to bits and are halfway down the road with your head unit.

If there was nothing on show, chances are they wouldn't bother breaking in.

True. Plus my car is well tucked away. The paranoia is getting too much!

The paranoia doesn't get any better with the additon of more security. I'm not bothered about my car getting stolen (cos it's full of security), I'm more bothered about someone scratching it!! cos that only takes a second and no alarm is gonna prevent it

A scratch! If only! Last vandalism I had was a litre of Nitromors all over the car! £1500 worth of damage! I hate them!

Just had a META pager fitted to my scoob. Good piece of kit, the pager goes off as soon as the door is opened or the alarm goes off, and does not stop beeping until you either turn the pager off or press the reset button on the pager.

The pager is quite small and you just press a button everytime you leave your car to arm it, it also has a display screen which tells you what is setting the pager off.

Its not as loud as I though it would be, but I think it would wake me up at night if it did go off.

I think the retail for the pager is about £75 plus installation + vat, but I have a friend that works at the dealers, so he gets me a nice discount.

If anyone is interested, I might be able to get them a pager if they want?

I think i'll have to get one of these. If only so I can sleep with my bedroom window shut! Have you got any pictures?

Cheers.

Has anyone tried a GSM unit with their alarm system, these units send text messages to your mobile phone and you can send texts back to the unit to set relays, that allow you to switch things on or off, on your car

Sorry I dont have any pics, but the pager measures about 2.5 inches x 1.5inches x 3/4 inch deep. The display is about 1 inch square. It has a removable clip where the pager just slides in and out of.
