does the 03 come as standard with an cat 2 immobiliser

MY03 WRX comes as standard with Cat1 Alarm/Immob.
Unless you import it from EU. Some importers fit them as part of deal.
IM fit it to UK models on arrival.

yes but is the immobiliser on its own cat 2

Correct!! on its own it a cat 2, but with an alarm its a cat 1.
