Question

I have Tracker monitor on my Scooby and twice now it's been in a garage where they have jacked it up without the ignition on , and I've not had a call from Tracker. Is this normal or should I get it checked ?
Thanks in advance
Dave.
I've put this in General as I didn't have any joy in the security section

Don't think jacking it up works, if it's run on GPS, then the car will have to move a couple of meters before the sattelites pick up any movement!

It's the Monitor one (which I thought works off of a movment detector), not the Horizon which is GPS ...but I may be wrong !

think it only works on movement, same tracker as mine.

take the keys out the ignition and push it 10 meters or so, see if tracker call you.

I have the same one and suppsoedly they have altered it a bit.

My dad has had it too and IIRC he used to get a phone call when his car was in the garage (jacked up etc...).

But now I beleive that it also has to move as well as being lifted, as this means that it could be being stolen.

Bit of a bummer (as it could still mean your wheels are being nicked for example) but I guess they would have been overloaded with 'alerts' or whatever they get, but most of them would have been nothing (ie a service).

When I had a tracker in my MY98 UK scooby, I believ I had a Tracker monitor, when I got it fitted, the fitter said that I had to tell Tracker when the car should be stationary(sp?), and it is 'monitored' for movement then - otherwise you have to phone them to say the car has been knicked - dunno if it was the fitter talking ********* or not! Now have the RAC trackstar one which works off GPS and is disabled when ignition is on.

Its quite confusing - my dad had his car stolen (they had the keys ) while he was on holiday - he had told them that he was away and the car would not move until day X, but even when it was nicked in that case we still had to tell them. Bit disappointed about that - they said that its because they had the keys - my dad argued (very strongly lol ) that he had told them that the car WOULD NOT BE MOVING though, so regardless of how it moved it should have alerted them.

Basically, I think whether you have told them or not, if they have the keys you have to tell them. But if its put on a low loader/moved without being running etc they will be alerted.

Have to say though, they did track the car down though in a couple of hours so at least it worked.

For peace of mind I had Tracker 'track' my car so that I could see if it was working. I parked up outside work and asked them to tell me where it is

You can test it by being an idiot like me...

Have a rattle behind the dash, so took the facia off, unplugged all the plugs behind there and went to collect my wife from the train station. Found out that my indicators didn't work (pulled out the hazard plug doh!) nor other bits like the temp gauge. Got home and about 10 minutes later a nice chap from Tracker called me up. The Tracker system must have some connection through some of the wires that I took out! If you want to test it then give that a go . Dont blame me if it ***** up your Tracker though!!!

Jim
