MY99 security - how cool
#1
whilst fittin my ripspeed brushed alumiunium tax disc holder, decided to have a flick thru the manuals (hey there's a first time fer everything).
turns out the alarm has an anti-jacking feature (which I've now enabled) so when the ignition is on, the doors are locked, when its turned off, the doors open - HOW COOL is that ?!

Does this mean that if you start your car on a cold n frosty morning, get out to scrape of the frost (closing the door to keep her warm) that you have locked yourself out!. I managed this last january and including my house keys. Had to ring the x-wife to bring the spare set round!

Nope, there is a special procedure for just that. Here is what the manual says.
"To stop the doors locking on a single occasion, for example if you wish to start the engine and vacate the vehicle-perhaps to scrape ice from windows-open a door, turn the vehicle ignition on and leave the door open. After the vehicle hazard lights give a single flash it is then safe to close your door and Safety lock will not lock your doors until the next time you turn the vehicle ignition off and on again"
