Andy, what percentage (if any) of methanol do you run in your Water Injection setup.

Also, what quality/strength of methanol is it you use ??

Wee bit of research for next month

Richie

I use IMS - Industrial Methalated Spirit which is 80 % ethanol 20 % methanol I believe ?
I have tried from 10% to 100% and found 50/50 to work best on my set up. I also had to adjust fuel to compensate as it ran too rich

You up for a dyno day or will it be run in anger at Crail ??

Cool. Its Industrial I have here too (99.8% minimum) so will see what to do

I am going for a dyno day on Sunday 12th May with a Vauxhall crowd (MIG Performance Vauxhalls) to STAR as a last run before the work is done to my car and the Unichip is mapped fully

I am expecting different results from last time as the boost peak is slightly lower at 10psi (normally 11.75psi) BUT the boost is held at 10psi till the red line (normally drops to 7.5-ish ater overboost).

This SHOULD (in thoery) give me a lower peak torque but a higher BHP.

After that tho I will be up for a RR day anytime after 23rd June as its being fully mapped just before then at and its a Vauxhall day at Santa Pod to see what I get on the 23rd

Not sure when first Crail day is after 23rd June but I'll be up for it if I can

Hoping for around 280BHP and 300lb/ft or more.

Will let ya know tho

Cheers

Er, guys, you are not supposed to use ethanol with the ERL pumps.
Apparently it perishes the seals rather quickly.

Methanol is the alcohol of choice. Lower boiling point too IIRC.

Andy, is it an ERL system you have? I seem to remember that some of your famous DIY might be involved.......

Russs

My pump is not an ERL, it's a centrifugal type with plastic wetted parts. No melted yet
