California-Scotland Cultural Exchange
Greetings from the Bay Area Imprezza Club
I'm over here in Scotland for a few weeks, enjoying looking at all the cool chasssis types that never made it state-side.
While here, I'm getting around in a guttless little Fiat Punto, and badly missing my WRX... On the other hand, it's probably for the best that my wings are trimmed, as I have plenty of re-learning to do, what with driving on the left and negotiating roundabouts and such...
My girlfriend is a Scott, and we get together several times a year for a good driving holliday... She's seen more California back-roads than most Californians, and is now showing me the sights over here. So far this trip, we've been up to the Trossachs, Kintyre, and Arran, and will hopefully make it out a few more times. Last time we made it out to the Hebredes and Sutherland... Quite a beautifull country y'all got here.
The other night, we went out to a movie, and bumped into a group of Subie drivers gathered for a meet... Just like me and my "Drive Club" mates do of a Monday night back home... good to see that some things are universal!
Question: Do people over here take their Subies out on dirt and gravel? Its a major form of recreational driving for Subaru owners over in my piece of the world, but so far everything I've seen over here has been paved. (NARROW, but paved...)
Anyway... Just saying 'sup to my brethren across the pond.
Later,
Bluburu

Hi mate,
Hope your enjoying Scotland.
I'll be in Edinburgh with my Type-R STi Version 5 on the 16th Dec, (getting Apexi re-map) so if you wanna go for a spin, let me know.

By the way, what is "Type R"... that isn't a designation used in the US. Is that the 2.0 or the 2.5?
Thanks for thinkin' of me,

Also, the Type R is a 2.0l - only the newly released versions of the Impreza come with the 2.5l engine as standard across here - of course there are some that have slipped a 2.5l in the 'classic' or bug/blobeye versions.
Cheers

Now I'm really bummed that I won't be in town on the 16th! Got any pics?
Thanks again for the offer... If you're ever in the neighborhood of Santa Cruz, California, PM me at the BAIC (same screen name) and I'll show you some ritchous back-roads.
