Default Bent the scooby....

Had a deer run out infront of me today which resulted in my type r parked in a field after sliding over a dyke in the process. Problem is being a type r,t&c, who would probably be the company the insurers send the car to, will not be able to replace my rear right quarter panel i reckon which has a nice rock shape dent beside the rear wheel. The cars fully comp with everything declared but still, being japaneese, the only way to get type r panels is through the breakers. Whats happens here then? Also bent the sill quite badly. Other damage was front with the front lower and upper crossmembers being bent, knackered radiator and front bumper&splitter and a slightly out of shape wing.

Has anyone got any advice as ive never made a claim before but reckon this will need handed over to the insurers since the front end will need putting on a jig and will cost a few pennies.

Cheers,
Doug.

Mate thats absolutely gutting!

I'm sure you'll be able to get the car sorted as I know planty of people who have Type-R's as Rally cars and they smash them all the time and still manage to get them repaired!
Try Glenburgie Subaru. Its up in your neck of the woods and they source second hand parts from Japan.

Parts wise its not really a problem getting it sorted myself. Its just gonna cost a sh*t load of hard earned which was going on (irony coming up!) making it faster. I'd prefer the insurance company to sort it out, especially when my excess is 100 compulsary and 250 voluntary. I'll have to wait and see who their recommended repair company is. If they cant fix jap bodys then i'll need to get a quote from 2 different garages. Glenburgie will be one of them but theres still the problem of getting the car on a ramp for inspection since its not really drivable. It will cost to have it transported to a garage just to have it looked at and dont think that will be covered in the insurance. I'll post pics tomorrow morning and see if i can get some more advice on the matter.

Doug.

p.s.-cyprusscooby-both have v.ltd's and both in the forces! Away next w/end for some mischief and a sun tan in Iraq.

Doug speak to scoobyclinic mate, they do insurance work and they're a dab hand with a two door, they have a metal, yes metal wing kit for a 22b, they've put a set on a type r they've got and it looks neat, i'd like to do it but it's cash, as you already need a wing why not get the other three done.
But seriously give them a call, i think they arrange collection of your car as well, chesterfield area http://www.scoobyclinic.com/

All the best Mark

Lol, i dont think the insurers would fork out for me to have 22b wings put on! The front wing looks like it just needs reshaping if anything. The main cause for concern is the damage to the rear quarter panel and sill (outer and inner i think) where the wrx sticker is (just bellow), and front crossmembers (where the radiator sits). Have inspected the chassis now and doesnt look like its been twisted.

If i decide to opt for the car going to a specialist of my choosing, how do i get it inspected (quote from 2 garages) without moving it?

Pretty sure the person from the insurance company will have to visit the car, i.e if you did send it to Scoobyclinic, and you were insured with Tesco, Tesco would have an asseser from the local area to visit the car for them, this person then would then make the judgement, his valuation compaired to the quote from the bodyshop, if they think the quote is high they'll then get you to get a quote from a different source, if they believe the quote to be reasonable they will authorise the work.

Thats the way i see it. The cars bent, not me!

Spoke to the insurance company today (elephant), and their repair shop is Arnold Clark. I'd prefer the car to go to Glenburgie as they are a scooby specialist and have lots of experience with 2 door shells and shell prep for the rally boys. I just need to find another garage to get a quote from. Thought about T&C since they are the main scooby dealership in Aberdeen but would prefer to find another company like Glenburgie who have the experience and knowledge (and interest/enthusiasm) to make a good job of sorting a type r bodyshell. Any suggestions?......

Dont take any nonsense from the insurance company. You DO NOT have to use the recomended repairer despite what they might try and tell you.

Yeah i know. Only disadvantage is having to get someone to come assess it to get a quote and it might not be accurate since i doubt they will be able to tell if the chassis is twisted till it go's up on the ramps. I'll see what the boys at glenburgie have to say. I forgot about the P1 so Arnold Clark might be the way ahead as it shouldnt be a prob sourcing parts since the type r and p1 share the same shell. Would prefer it to go to Glenburgie though cause they might be able to carry out some "extra" work.. (cars getting preped for hillclimbs/sprints.)

Doug you made any progress?, also tried finding out from a bloke who runs a glass company, he couldn't fiind any listings for the glass from a P1 on any of the lists from his sources. Dealer only part?
