A702 or M74
I will be travelling to Edinburgh Monday from the Midlands area and wondering what the A702 is like through Bigger, is it Camera heaven ??. The other option is do the Motorway route. Any advice please.

Biggar is the quicker route, I used to live there. I don't know about speed cameras as I have not been along it for a few years. It's a nice road especially the Dolphington straight.
Watch out for the roadwork’s on the M6 near the lakes. I think I may have been caught by a speed camera van there on Monday.

DeeDee...
I'm travelling from Edinburgh to Midlands on friday, and will be taking the Biggar road.
If you check back on here sunday night...i'll let you know if there's any cameras/roadworks etc...
Tis a great road though.

A701 from Moffat to Edinburgh is more of a drivers road than the A702 from Biggar plus has the advantage of not having as much heavy traffic. It's my most prefered route. It's also more scenic than the A702.

No cameras on the A702 - at least not permanent ones. I've never seen a mobile one either, although there are white blocks on the road for VASCAR, so keep your eyes peeled. Came up it on Friday night and there were some roadworks, but only a few minutes delay, and they might well be finished by now. There are quite a few villages to slow down through though, so although it's a nice windy road, it is intersperced with 30's and 40's (give your brakes a chance to cool though!).
Can't compare to the A701, as I haven't driven it for a while.
