Default Petrol station advice please

Me and the misses have rented a cottage near Crianlarich for a week next week
We plan on touring around some of your wonderful scenery and twisties but optimax seems to be a bit in short supply in this area. The nearest shell petrol station is at Doune according to the shell website, but its about 20 miles from our base
I have not been able to find a bp station in our area.
My car is only a uk turbo, but it has been re-mapped and i usually feed it 98 ron
Can anyone suggest a local petrol station that stocks super plus fuel.
If not, i will have to top up the regular stuff with booster.

Oh, and if you see a red wagon, give me a wave

Fort William has BP Ultimate. I go there regularly for work from Dundee and ALWAYS take a can of Proboost with me. Too easy to get caught out up in the high country!

Its been a few years now, but i am sure its still good fun.

The garage in Tyndrum is a Shell but they do NOT have SUL.

After Doune, the only SUL is Fort William, Oban, Ullapool & Inverness. I also know that there is SUL at the Shell in Portree on Skye and maybe at the Kyle of Lochalsh.

Thanks for the info

It must cost you lads a fortune in booster up there.

All we have to put up with in birmingham is shootings, stabbings and car jacking

....I think you are getting the better deal.

Not true matey as theres now 2 garages in Thurso that sell sul which is a fair bit further north than inverness and ideal if you wanted to come up the west coast and back down the a9.

Nice one Greg

On the way up there are some convenient ones on the A74 near Carlisle or at Abington or Happendon Services

Dont know which way you are going up but there is a convenient one on the A80 at Cumbernauld if you are going via Callander there is another on the A84 at Doune and another one in Creiff (with Optimax) if you get across that far (Note: the one in Aberfeldy isnt Shell anymore )

Whilst you are up there I recomend doing the A821 Dukes Pass north of Aberfoyle if you havnt been up there before! Another classic I have found recently is the A861 west of the Corran Ferry this might make a loop for you if you are off to Mallaig

If you need any other tips

Have fun

The all seeing CW

I have travelled the A821 in the past and been down the forest drive.

But i have never been down the A861 loop before, so i will bear that one in mind

The route i am taking north is through Glasgow on the A82 alongside Loch Lomond.

Watch out for speed cameras /traps in the 40mph zone just before u have the Loch on your right hand side.........great roads for driving(as long as they are not too busy)

The Shell in Kyle doesn't sell SUL. You need to over the bridge for that (how much for a ticket, and that's only one way!!).

There's also Contin, just a bit out of Inverness which sells SUL - saves you about 45 minutes if you were only going into Inverness to fill up and then head back.

I think rather than planning my driving around petrol stations, i am going to fill up when necessary (probably far too frequently) with whats available and use some booster. I bought some bottles earlier this year, but have never actually used any.

It will be a small price to pay for such stunning scenery and wonderful roads

Thanks for the advice about the traps.
