Default should this happen???

when i apply the handbrake on my 03sti and facing downhill the car rolls forward about 1 inch. Same if im on flat with the handbrake on i can move the car the same ammount. I know its only a minute ammount of movement but surely it shouldnt do this or am i being daft?
any suggestions

Same happens with mine mate, cant give you an explanation. Its never failed though so cant complain. I find if you push down on the brake pedal before applying the handbrake then it does not do what you mentioned.

so yer not the only one.

Hello,

In the handbook it specifically states (somewhere?!?) to apply the footbrake before the handbrake, particularly on hills. I get it in my Primera too if I don't do the footbrake bit.

Seems to be the same with most cars with rear disc brakes due to the way the handrake works at the rear.

Being a Japanese car will it not be rolling forward 25mm.
