Hello all,

I am getting my (light) front tints removed by Pentagon next Saturday. Spoke to the guys there (Stirling) and they were very helpful. The legislation was passed on February 14th and backdated to January 1st but applies to all cars.

It seems very clear now - all tints, other than manufacturers standard are illegal forward of the B-pillar. The best you can expect is a 10 day prohibition notice to get them off.

Insurance is the major worry - if the car was involved in an accident (even though I have mine declared) - insurance companies don't need excuses not to pay out and the legal issues are just too much. I would rather stay on the right side of the law for the sake of 2 bits of film.

I am getting it replaced with clear Supagard film, so at least some benefit.

Subaru fronts are 27% I believe. Some info about it on the Pentagon website, but the advice of the guys was helpful.

When they are gone I will be less worried about getting any hassles from Police, but mainly insurance issues as anything beyond 30% on the front is illegal now.

i got mines 50% front, rear & 35% at the back, really sets the car off to be honest & it cost £255

There phone number is 01506 632766 & they are based in bathgate

As for the legality issue, i will take the risk, i have always had a very light smoke on my windows so i cant go without IMHO

So let's say worst case you have an accident and your insurance is void you get nothing, and I guess the person you crash into gets nothing

I don't understand the mentality of it, you have a nice car and you want to risk everything for the sake of some stupid film on your windows.

I had my Pug windows done by Magma and can only agree that they do a first class job at a price that is about half of Pentagon,

sti-04, fair enough but just be careful. As I have said before these insurance companies will try and screw you over any chance they get so make sure you have it in writing including the level of tint.
