I love cars... BUT... They seriously test my patience!!
Coming home last night, around 4am, came off a roundabout and went into a gentle right hand bend, then was going round a left hand bend when a deer popped out of the field/verge next to the road on my left.......
Instinctively, I swerved right to avoid it, then corrected myself by swerving left, but it was icy and this caused the car to skid and the car hit the kerb and went up onto the pavement knocking loose the rear section of the side skirt. I managed to clip it back up, to stop it dragging on the ground when I was driving, but it will need to be re-fitted properly....
The main damage was the rear wheel which had mounted the kerb, bent, its now slightly pointing towards the passenger side of car and bottom sits further in than the top..........
Here are a few pics, soz if they are too big for 56k users:
Cheers,
Grant

grant, coming down the gourdie bray i once saw a huge stag as it jumped from the field right over the road and the camperdown wall in one bound - a magnificent sight but at the same time scary - had a few deer near misses there before too - where was yours?
have you seen the danger squirrels signs along that end too - always makes me have a wee chuckle to myself when i see them
back luck about the car mate i know how gutted you must feel especially as the car is still newish! - glad your ok though - hope there's no too much damage back there - could always use a big hammer - at least to make them match - some nice mental toe in for rear end fun! - at least now you can get some nice suspension components and settings dialed in
check on the ddc forum - i put a post up about a dude in bonnybridge that knows his suspension stuff well - he was mentioned on here too.
take care dude!

good avoidance - and then unlucky!!
but shows how good these cars are at avoiding things...
i had my scoob for about 3 or 4 weeks - and a deer stood right in front of me as i came round a right hander.
i swerved left, then right again to correct meself.
Gives u confidence in the car and urself.
as kenny said - be glad that u never hit the deer!
Least u will know that the setup is present and correct when u get it fixed

Yep, be glad you never hit the deer.
I got pulled back in August coming back from Fort William at 3am. The cops gave me a good ticking off as there had been a lot of fatalities on the A82 with cars hitting (or trying to avoid) the deers.
I've had a few lucky escapes avoiding deer and sheep when out hill walking. Makes you think the little beggars have a death wish.

Thats bad luck with the car - hopefully you can get it successfuly sorted out
Animals are a bugger to try and miss - I had a spirited run summer last year, and a dear ran down the side of a hill toward the road - it was like slow-mo, luckliy for me it stopped just short of the road as I had no where to go to avoid it. Slowed me down for about 30 secs then I was away again
The little animals of the forest are the equivalent of bmw 'whats an indicator?' drivers. Cause the accident, and they dont get a scratch and on they go.

It is the worst feeling in the world, getting out of you car knowing their is damage done and having to check it over. The slightest dent or nick and you just feel like getting rid of the ******.

Bloody hell Grant you are having about as much luck with your car as I am. About 4 months ago I hit a deer, broke front fog light and indicator + a dent in rear passenger side door (still havent got that fixed)
Then on Satarday driving to work about 6.30 in the morning, there was a layer of fresh snow on top of ice, only doing about 30 the scoobys front wheel must of cought on a rut of ice under the snow, put the car in to a skid the next thing I knew I was on op of a large stone at the side of the road. I have broke the front spoiler but the real damage is under the car. There is no body damage but the catch for the bonnet has been pushed up.The bonnet is now sitting about 4mm higher at the front than it should, the car still drives fine, doesnt pull to the side so i dont think I have damaged the cross member.
Any one out there know a good pannel beater I can take the car to to get fixed?

Thanks guys, I know its "just one of those things" but all of these things seem to be happening to me at one time!!
Well the car is being picked up by my insurers today, around 10am, and being taken to Nationwide Crash Repair Centre in Cupar...
Already told my mum to take a note of the mileage, the petrol level, take out CD Player face off, and everything out of car that isnt meant to be there!! I'm being paranoid, but the way my luck is at the moment!!
One bonus is that if it is too expensive to sort myself and I do decide to go through the Insurance, I am going to have a word with the bodyshop and try and get the skirts and rear spats colour coded... Might even try and cheer myself up by getting them to fit an STi V6 Front Lip at the same time!!
Anyway, I will keep you all posted............
Cheers,
Grant

lol... Never thought about trying to wangle new alloys out of them too!!
Nah, looked over the alloy, it was a small mark at the rim, no cracking so think it will be alright, but hey... I'll ask the boy when he calls me with the report if he can do me a few wee favours and if he could actually manage to get all or some of the following:
Crystal Clear Front Indicators
The wee orange bits underneath the Indicators sprayed black
Crystal Clear Side Repeaters
Colour coding the skirts, etc
New Front Lip Spoiler, painted and fitted
Set of 18" Prodrives, with Goodyear F1s
Wishful thinking, but we will see, if it goes thru the insurance then I dont see the problem with trying to do all that!!
Picking up the Courtesy Car tomorrow morning... wonder what it'll be!!
Cheers,
Grant
