will think of it this way,
if you get an evo6, ( make sure it is an RS you will love it ) all you will need is a RA ecu and apexi boost controller and voila 360bhp at 1.6bar all day long ( max cost 1k). now how much money will you need to spend on a scoob to get the same performance ?
they come with brembo brakes albeit they need good discs and pads
they come with a decent turbo capable of 380bhp
they come with a good gear box ( i am running around 500bhp now with standard gear box)
clutch is needing attention though you will need a paddle clutch to handle more than 350bhp ( but yet again same with the scoob)
they come with a front mounted intercooler.
the evo is an easier car to get to 360-400bhp mark than a scoob. however anything over that it becomes really costly !!!
but things are changing, now the americans have them there is going to be alot of turbo kits coming on the market soon.
rich w managed 11.9sec 1/4mile at elvington last month with a standard engine and uprated ball bearing turbo ( my old turbo as a matter of fact) so they are not that bad on the drag strip either

agree with sam
if you are sure you want to stick with a 4wd rally rep type car , then after the scoobs you have had it makes sense.
IMO there is not much between the two. the scoobs better in some areas and the evo's better in others. starting from scratch again I would probably get an evo but now that I have the scoob I do not see the point changing as they are so similar.

thanks guys!
andy is sending me details now of a evo 5 gsr, though i am sure he will be able to get me a rs, does the rs type not have a tiny fuel tank??? they also dont have the yaw control??????? i dont realy want the yaw controler anyway, but can a std (ie bigger) fuel tank be retro fitted?????? as i have heard that if you are "using" the rs you can do a tank of fuel in 80 miles !!!!!!
not a lot of use in the highlands ect!! the route i was thinking of going tuning wise was the apexi ecu, full magnex decat system,
induction kit (it seems they work on evos unlike scoobys)and arp big end bolts? well......to start anyway, i see a lot of them have been converted to six pot aps, i would think that lot would make for a "interesting" b road car
as always your thoughs are most welcome!!
cheers robinh20

hi robin
the rs is the light weight version, but it comes with rs diffs and is very desirable car so comes selling it will be easy and will hold its price well.
the evo6 pistons and rods are better than the evo5 so from an engine point of veiw, the evo6 RS is probably your best bet.
the apexi is an ecu so it does what says on the box really. you can even get link for the evo's if you want ( if you start feeling scoob sick )
the RS has very short gear ratios and standard trim will keep it is own against a lot of modified gsr'S!!
with hind sight i should have gone for an evo7 RS instead of gsr. but hey i am not complaining

Robin,
Owing to the purchase of a house on wed last week i'm going to be selling my white Evo 5 GSR. It's got a huge spec list - brakes, wheels, coilovers, exhaust, downpipes, cat rep pipe, intercooler, induction kit...... etc and made 350BHP at Star recently.
I'm gutted to have to sell it as i love it to bits but i can't justify having it whilst i have a house to modify!
I've mailed you too but it may not get to you as my business email doesn't seem to like hotmail. I can be contacted on :
james.braid@obcgroup.com
Let me know if you're interested.
I'm in Aberdeen but will happily to meet you elsewhere to let you have a good look at the car.
Cheers
James
