any info on training in diagnostics through subaru, for me yet mate?

Dave, apologies for not getting back to you sooner.Had to replace my PC Have spoken to Subaru and they have said that the training they supply is only for certified Dealer personnel as they create a file for each technician.
As far as tuning the boxer engine I would say your best bet is exactly what you're doing and talking to other owners who have already tried and tested different methods of tuning.
Speak to Andy F. and Alan G or Teknopete as these guys have pretty much tried everything.
