It currently doesn't have a tax disc so I got clamped.

Anyone got any ideas how not to pay the 200 quid to get it removed?

Thanks
Kenny

Rekon your only way out is paying the fine

There's a lot of that round my work (gorgie) I presume it's a DVLA clamp ?

You could always push the bike...lifting the wheel thats clamped!!

Take it to a quiet location..then have a go at it

My first answer was far too sensible.

Pay the fine. Why should you get off with not paying road tax?

Question

As far as I was aware, clamping in Scotland is illegal (unlike England & Wales) as it constitutes 'theft of use'....

Had this discussion (briefly) at the Glasgow meet last night, it looks like it is legal to clamp on private ground.

Clamping in Scotland is illegal when done by private firms, to prevent extortion by companies who put up tiny signs in empty car parks to catch people out.

However the DVLA can still clamp cars/bikes with no tax disc so you're outta luck - even if you do remove it they've probably got your details anyway and will be in touch to ask what happened to their clamp!

Thanks for the responses...

Looks as though I'll have to pay it ... bummer

Its now gone up to 280 quid as 24 hours have elapsed

This seems like daylight robbery as I remember having to pay only 30 quid a few years back when my car did not display its tax disc - but that was the police issueing a ticket, whereas the current mob would give Hitler and the ****'s a good run for their money :-)

Thanks again from a heavily depressed Kenny

DVLA can clamp who they like since you are directly contravening the Vehicle Exise and Registration Act 1994.

Why don't you just pay your bloody tax like the rest of us instead of trying to scam out of it?
