So, anyone been to anything yet in the festival - any recommendations?

Me so far - been to best of Irish comedy - it's on at The Stand, every night, good value, Martin Bigpig is the host and he's top!

Bangkok Ladyboys (got 1/2 price tickets - don't ask!) - recommended

and going to see John Hegley - "master of the mundane"

oh and been roped into a weird Jaques Brel thing at the Speigletent - oh dear.

Just back in from a wee trip up the high street to watch some of the fringe street performers, really enjoyable evening, good laugh and well entertained.

Not paid for anything yet but the festival is still young !!

Wink

Saw Bill Bailey at Gutted earlier in the year when he finished off by playing a few tracks (teenage kicks etc) with his punk band ... pretty funny but he was no way near the funniest there...

Daniel Kitson and Johnny Boy were brilliant with a few others whose names I can't remember

Elaine C Smith had to be the unfunniest 'thing' there, brutally bad to be honest

Anyway working in the West End soon puts you right off the festival .... takes you about an hour to get a sandwich at lunch after fighting your way past groups of 20 or so Italians or Spaniards who insist on chatting right in the middle of the pavement

Festival time.... bah humbug rant rant

At least there are less Yanks this year

I went to Gutted too - some good acts as above, must see DAniel Kitson again, but it went on far too long 4 hrs plus. Then they had the cheek to try and collect money off you at the end after paying £20 for a ticket.
