Posted in Wanted too mods but would prefer not to travel obviously

Come on guys .... what ye got ?

Don't want to buy new as more of an acoustic fan so don't want to spend too much ? Amp around 30 watts

Semi-acoustic preferred over electric but both considered

Cheers in advance

I know nothing about musical instruments BUT - the company I work for has an 'office band' - so I passed your query to David (double bass/ guitar/ madolin player) and he said:

"For second hand gear - shop on Leith Walk, not too far down from Elm Row on right hand side as you come down the hill. Can't remember what it is called but it is orange and sells general second hand goods but particularly guitars, HiFi s and swords (strange mixture but there you are!). Usually has a couple of Gibson or Gibson copy semi acoustics in stock that may be worth a look. Never bought from there myself but it looks reasonable enough."

So hope that helps.

I didn't know Rikki's sold swords?
They didn't have any the other day when I was in...

BTW re: your request, sorry I can't help. Have you tried Sound Control on St Mary's Street or Mev Taylors on Morrison Street?

Hey Rich

I've tried Simpsons/Mev Taylors/Sound Control and Live Music but all their 2nd hand stuff seems greatly overpriced (ie. New price of guitar £339...2nd hand price £279 ) and I was just chancing my arm and hoping that some kind soul would help a fellow SNetter

Cheers

I would love to help. I have got a practice amp that I don't use, but it's only a 15 watt Squire thingy - not what you're after, and I'd be overcharging if I asked £15 for it. So I'd rather keep the thing.

Have you asked Crush? - He's got loads of gear - some of it must be going spare!

Rich

On a more serious note ... if the amp works and is semi-decent then I'd gladly take it off your hands for £20 and happy to collect if you really want rid of it

Saves spending £200 on a new one that will only be used occasionally.....

CRUSH ..... Are you there Do you hear what this man is saying ..... you have loads of gear ..... Well ... is this true ???

Cheers
Si

Thanks for the offer Si, but I'll keep it.

It only cost £60 or £70 new about 14 years ago.
So it's barely worth a few beer vouchers now.
I suppose, as my first amp, it's worth much more to me than to anyone else...

If you're considering paying up to £200, then I'd think there'll be plenty of choice.

My current practice amp is a Roland 30 watt Cube which was £180 new.
You're bound to be able to find a 2nd hand 30 watt amp for much less.
If I see one on my travels, I'll let you know...

Know what you mean Rich

I sold my first acoustic guitar a couple of years back to a mate who was keen to learn and I bought it back off him (for more than I sold it to him ) as sentimentality can be a funny thing

Cheers again and thanks for keeping your eyes open

I'm here

I do actually have a Marshall 30 watt amp, It's a G30RCD

Although I really like it, I don't think I'll need it anymore cause I can use the 70 watt in the garage so I could be tempted to part with it

It's reviewed by normal public type people here

**** knows what It would be worth, so just offer me what you think would be fair
